prior owner's diet CAN'T be right! ??

got an email today from the prior owner i got rocky from on friday.....i had told him how much of a little piggie he was, told me i was overfeeding him?? he said he gives him a bowl of kale 1x day, and 5-6 crickets at a time a few times a week. said that if u overfeed they get a blockage???

i have been giving him greens fresh 2x day, and he can easily eat a dozen crickets 2x a day. i have been feeding him in the morning b4 i leave, after he warms up a bit, and at suppertime. from what i have read i dont think i am overfeeding, i think he was half starving him or am i the one wrong here??? he's 10 mos old, almost 15"

also got him some freezedried mealworms today, some broccoli and collards. i am soooo trying to make sure i do him right!

ok thanks why no mealworms? thought they were good for the diet? i just picked up the calcium so will be dusting them with it a few times a week from what i have read? have only had him since early friday evening.

Mealworms to them is like cardboard to us u should be dusting calcium 5 x a week and vitamins 2x a week I ussually do calcium week days vitamins week ends and mealworms can cause impaction

well then i guess i will bring the mealworms back and get a refund on them. glad i didnt open them yet! vitamins...pet store didnt have any....grrrr....i'll have to order some online i guess. also want to order some crickets, at $1 per 13 not to mention gas driving to next town for them is ridiculous. wish there was a bigger pet center closer to home!

That is soooo not over feeding...the nerve of some people...
Fresh greens 2x's is good all of everything you are doing is good.
Rocky will be fine

thanks so much to all for the reassureance!! so hard being a new mommy!! i know i've been loading the board with ?'s, but i just wanna make sure i am feeding right and doing what i should be for him. just wish he would do his business, i know the guy said he went friday before he brought him over to me, but i won't feel right till i see him do it for myself. wouldn't feel so bad if he hadn't arrived in a tank full of sand, and what i read about sand and impaction makes me nervous.....*sigh*.... am used to dogs & birds for years now, this beardie stuff is all new to me, even tho i read for like a month on them before i got him.

tail at least is almost done shedding, bought a big sterlite container to give him a bath, but thinking since i just got him friday may wait a bit till he is more comfortable with things. he is still a hisser when i pick him up, and the taming is another thing i have to work on. lol oh Lord will be soooo happy when it all comes together!!! lol

i know the old owner said he has given them, every 2 weeks or so. (if that is even true, after the feeding thing i now wonder about stuff....) but i honestly didn't think putting someone who doesn't really trust u yet into water would be conducive to good bonding lol. if so that would be awesome! i so wanna just be good friends with him, but i can understand his point of view, he don't know me from Adam, and here is this hand picking him up... i do sympathize, but i wanna prove i am not out to hurt him. well, i will give it a shot later on and hope for the best! i gotta get my pics uploaded too so i can post them
