Ok the only thing making me think he could still be alive is he is still soft- no sign of rigor at all -
Signs he has passed on
1. I can not wake him, bath, turning him on his back nothing - no response
2. He smells - but I was told that they give off a horrid smell when burmating to keep predators away
3. He has lost weight and has become multi-colored - head is reddish, beard is black, back is gray/ yellow ( he was more yellow/ gray to begin with)
4. He is at least 11 years old and has not always had the proper lighting, food and warmth as he was a pet in a daycare, living in a hallway- until I stared caring for him and finally brought him into my classroom- but even there getting his tank over 80 degrees was difficult.

I just keep telling myself that maybe I did feel a breath or a twitch, but deep down I am pretty sure he is gone, I just don’t want to burry him if there is a chance he could wake up ( he’s in his weekend set up at my house, I brought him home when he started acting like he could be getting ready to burmate, eating less, very picky and sleeping more - but he hasn’t moved in over a week, I move him in the hopes I will wake up and see he’s moved - but no ☹️

Just wNted to add that in my intro last year I had said Puff was 7-8 but I let the center owner know I had taken him home and was worried about him and she told me they got him in 2006 and he was pretty close to full size.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about Puff. It is extremely difficult to lose such a precious soul. He
is up there in years then. If you are not seeing any signs of life, no breathing, etc after trying
a bath, turning him on his back then it definitely doesn't sound good.
How long has he been in this state, a week?

Hi Kat, sorry to hear this but he has definitely died. :( Someone has given you a bit of nonsense information about beardies having a smell during brumation, I don't know how these myths get started. Please be sure to sanitize everything and to be extra careful now that you've been handling the dead body....wash your hands REALLY well before going in to work with small children.

It's VERY rare that a brumating dragon has no movement at all if picked up + jostled around, even being put on their back if they're just brumating. He may have been in the dying process though and just been dead now for a day or two. But if he smells then he is gone.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
