Pregnant Beardie

Hi there,
Yesterday I brought one of my beardies, Daisy, to the vet because she had vomitted and became very lethargic the night before. I was very scared for her. At the vet they checked her poop (which was fine) and they did an XRay. The xray revealed eggs. :roll: The vet gave me some instructions and also told me to make her a dig box. So I came home and got to work! The only thing is she is not even attempting to dig at all!! She is still pretty lethargic. I have given her a bath and some water and some liquid calcium. Her temp is about 105 and we have the reptisun 10. Everything with her habitat is fine. I am just wondering if there are any tips people can give me to help her out. I always read that pregnant beardies are usually active and act crazy....Daisy is doing the complete opposite and I am very worried.

Hi there....sorry that Daisy is not well. Hopefully she's not eggbound....can you post the X-ray here ? Is your vet very knowledgeable ? I just wonder if she needs a shot of Oxytocin to help her pass the eggs if they are ready to be layed. Hopefully she'll be O.K. You might p.m. Drache613 [ Tracie ] if you can put up the X-ray.

I didn't even think to get a copy of the xray! The vet we went to was not our normal vet because I brought her in for an emergency visit. She wasn't even in the same practice, but she is highly recommended for exotic pets. I will probably make an appointment to her regular vet tomorrow. I am just very worried about her. She is usually our sassy dragon, but she has not been herself at all!

I know only one person commented, but it looks like a few people read my post. I just thought I would update. Unfortunately my little girl did not make it. She passed away Tuesday night. We brought her to the vet for cremation the next day and he wanted to do a necropsy because he did not know why she passed away so quickly. Apparently she was not pregnant. He found lesions all over her liver and abscesses surrounding it that were full of pus. He sent samples out to a lab to test them.

I am so sorry for your loss. Poor girl, you did the very best you could for her. She is feeling so much better now, and I do believe the day will come when you will see her again.

If other folks are like me, when I read posts that have already been answered by someone I trust, or I have no idea how to help, I don't comment. Please don't let the lack of responses to your posts imply a lack of concern or caring for you and your girl.

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about Daisy ! I know you are devastated, and I truly feel for you ! Everything happened so very quickly it seems like there was no treatment that could possibly have helped her at that point. Again, all my heartfelt sympathy, I'm so sorry you lost your girl.

I'm so very sorry to hear that Daisy passed away. It's even harder when they die so quickly but at least you have answers as to what was going on. I know having a necropsy done was hard on you but you did the right thing so you would know for sure.

She knew you loved her & I know she loved you right back. Thinking of you and hope each day gets easier. Rather than thinking about when she was not feeling good, think about all the happy memories you have of her.

She is now at peace and you did all that you could have possibly done. Again, I'm so sorry.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that Daisy passed away so suddenly. Her liver must have been having some trouble for awhile.
I agree, she will always be there with you. I know she knew you loved her.
