PowerSun Mercury Vapor Bulbs Research Help

Beardies heal fast. You've done the first step to healing and that simply was shutting that power sun off. As tracie, diane and others have said, a few days with out uvb is ok. It should heal in a week or so since you caught it early. Mine healed really fast. Do yourself a favor and get a Trex/Megaray bulb. This store is legit as i actually went there physically to pick up the bulbs. As i said in prior posts, the workers legitimately (in my eyes anyway) love their stock that they sell so much so that nothing is in any cramp or overcrowded cages or holdings. Also, use a soft glow lamp or a ceramic heat emitter to keep them warm and try to hand feed them and water them. Though blind, they can sniff out food like mine did and talk to them during this time is especially good. They remember bad things that happen to them... which was what happened to mine... ie... blindness equals lost of trust. Dont handle too much but pet them and talk to them to keep them assured that you didnt mean any harm.

Hey xxdragonflamesxx. Too be honest with you, i felt the same way. I mean come on... ZOO MED is a big company. But as i told Tracie, when you contact a company that gives you different answers to the same problem... you start to wonder... To be honest, everything that they said, completely contradicted their inserts which tell you to follow it to a T for protection, yet when you do, you hurt your animal and lose their trust. Its a shame. But the best way not to support them and to force them to change is either complaining which i did but then they are condescending to you or you simply dont buy their products which i am doing now. A boycott if you will. The person i just replied to had the same problem with the powersun too? if you read it two post before this one. The exact samething as what happened to 2 of my dragons... blindness and all that. Its terrible. Luckily we have awesome people like tracie and others who not only are researching this problem but lending us their knowledge and i can tell you... because of the people of this forum, my beardies are healthy and i've earn their trust again. You should see mine right now lol. Its on my lap flipping its tale left and right and curious at what im doing.

On the of side chance it's not the bulb, are there other illnesses that have the same symptoms in beardie's? - Eyes closed, sleeping with no appetite?
(I don't mean to go off topic, just want to make sure I don't need to get her to a vet asap.)

Im not quite sure if it could be anything else. When did this start happening and how long did you have the powersun on it? For me, it took about 3 days before my two beardies' eyes were shut and they would move and such.

I bought the Powersun on 6/27 this last Saturday and she began to act 'sleepy' two and a half days ago now.

Initially she was eating normally, but yesterday her appetite seemed to wane and today she hasn't eaten a thing.

Hi. Its the bulb. That was exactly what happened to me x_x. Give her a week. No powersun please! Use a ceramic heat emitter along/soft incandescent bulb and mist your little one daily. Try to hand feed it and talk to it everyday to give it assurance and pet it lightly. It will heal fast. It seems sleepy but thats only because it cant see and its eyes are shut so no light gets in.

Just checking in with everyone.
If your dragon had that sudden of a change like that when you put in the Powersun 100 watt, it is most definitely the light. Definitely just turn it off, & see if you can return it for a refund, ha, good luck with that. :? If you have the money & want to "donate" your light to have Frances test it, let me know. I will send you her information & you can get her mailing address to send the light to her.

How is your dragon doing now? Do not put her under another UVB for a few days to a week just to make sure her eyes are ok. She was only under it a short while luckily so her damage should be very minimal. Keep her hydrated & comfy & she should be just fine.

Our girl is getting back to normal, she's looking around and has an appetite again. I'm not sure how well she's seeing but she's better. I'm waiting for feed back from our vet on some tests and if everything checks out normally then I'm going to conclude the issues were caused by the PowerSun bulb.

That being said if the test come back clean I'm going to head to the people I bought it from and even if they won't take it back I intend to 'educate' them on the potential hazard posed by it.

If they won't get me a mega ray or t-rex in place of it then I'll check about shipping it in for the research.

I'm so very happy to hear that! I'll give you aheads up about zoomed... they are extremely igonrant. If you read some of my earlier posts, i talked about how there was multiple opinions even from them and how insulting they were. They wont take returns and are jerks about it. Great to hear everyone's dragons are getting back to normal & doing better now! That is good news!
You know, I think I am going to have a talk with Frances regarding the customer service with Zoomed. That is absolutely unacceptable & definitely will not get me to recommend them much, just because of that.
