I've been hearing about issues people have been having with their Powersun bulbs and I was wondering if it was possibly to blame for the recent distress my dragon has endured.
I woke him up the morning before last, turned on his light and walked away. I came back and he was so unresponsive. He'd move for a few inches and then slowly lay his head back down and become unresponsive again. Immediately called every vet in the area that sees exotics and all were booked full despite my emergency. I ended up having a friend who used to breed bearded dragons to call the vet he used to take all his to and say I was his sister. >_< They made me an appointment immediately.
I get there and they immediately are calling me by my friend's last name (which I thought was hilarious) and fast tracked me to seeing the vet. The vet came to the conclusion that it was a calcium deficiency. I feed my beardie roaches and I dust each batch with repti-cal and multi-vitamins. The vet didn't seem to think it was anything I was doing after much questioning. He came to the conclusion that my beardie, Charmander just needed the extra push during his rapid growth period, gave him a calcium shot, gave me some syrup to feed him once a day for 10 days and then once a week until it runs out.
He seems to be just fine now. It's been 3 days and he's back to his normal chill but also active self.
I'm not exactly satisfied with the "he just needed an extra push" diagnosis. Is it possible that the Powersun is to blame?
