Hey everyone... My power went out at about 10am. The estimated time for restore is 230pm. But as many of yoy know... this could be less, it could be more. However my big concern is my beardie. I had the heat set at 72 before the power went out, so the house is still warm. But I dont know how long it will maintain the temperature. ALL of my beardies equipment is out because of course... it runs on this fancy thing called electricity. The temp outside is currently 48 and really cloudy with some rain, but nothing heavy with a good deal of wind. His basking spot is about 100 on any given day, so im confident that he is nice and warm, for now. My big question, is how long can he be in cold temperatures, should the power not be restored soon? Should i hold off on feeding him until his UVB bulb is back up and running? The temperatures are due to fall into the 20s tonight and we have no other source of heat. We live in an apartment building, so its not even like we could go out and get a generator even if we had the money... im really worried about my beardies health at this point... it hasnt been long... But again... I dont know how long the heat will hold in the apartment.

I dont want to put him in a warm bath because i feel like when the water gets cold, and i take him out, he may end up with little icicles hanging from his face... please help!!!

Very sorry for the unfortunate circumstances!
We have had outages due to the weather during the winter at night, and when this happened, we had transferred Sam into a separate carrier, such as a cat carrier, and laid down a blanket for him. We slide foot warmers on the bottom level of the blanket to help keep it heated for him. We also draped a blanket over that as well to keep the heat trapped inside.
If you don't happen to have these thing handy, I'm really sorry! The only other thing I can think of is keeping your little ones close to your chest and snuggling up with them. (And for next time, purchase those hand/foot warmers in case this happens again)
As for their health and safety, as long as you keep their temperature above the low 60's I would imagine they would be okay, albeit a bit chilly. Keep them as warm as you can though!

Hi Katy....is he a juvie, a baby or adult ? He ill be fine for part of a day or a day, if it's still out tomorrow you can get some handwarmers as suggested. No bath + no food....they can go many days without either and be perfectly fine. :)

I recently bought a small generator for fears of power failures. I have about $6000 worth of eggs in my incubator. I could put the Rankins in the incubator to keep them warm.
But handwarmers as mentioned are good to keep in the emergency supplies.

hopefully your heat and light has returned.

I would take and snuggle the beardie on you under a housecoat or hoodie. Your body heat will keep then warm.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
