Power outage for up to a week -- no UVB or Heating system!!

So it's Hurricane Harvey.. And our house completely flooded (with the exception of upstairs) and the power has been cut. Likelihood is that the power will remain out for up to a week in my area and Our generator only gives us enough to use the air vents and refrigerators (this is a family of 7 we're talking about with 4 other animals..) How long do you think my little Tango will be able to stay without his lamps and large cage (he is now staying in a portable hamster cage since his terrarium is too big for the room we are squeezed into.) I have been taking him out most of the time and feeding him and watering him as usual and so far he's doing pretty well, but obviously a little stressed.
Any information is helpful!

Hi Hanna, first of all I'm so sorry you'r going through this ! How stressful for you + your family. I hope you all get the help you need.

As for the beardie, how old + big is he ? Be specific. An adult beardie could get through this easily and even without food + water they'd not be fazed very much. A baby or young juvenile will need food, but offer less than usual since he does not have the ideal temps. + uvb to metabolize + digest the food. So just give him less than usual and keep him in the warmest area.....if the sun can come through a screened window in to the wire hamster cage [ if it IS wire ] that would be good.

My advice would be to take him outside of the house as much as you can if it's not too cold, to make sure he gets at least some uvb exposure. Put him in your shirt for awhile if he seems chilly; your body heat will help him to feel better.

It is probably still raining a lot there. If you can put him under your coat against your chest for a while you can warm him up that way too.

I adopted him In Febuary so he's about 7-8 months old. I have his food and I'm going to put him on some calcium powder again with his crickets and veggies. It hasn't been sunny so far, but if it is tomorrow I'll place his cage (yes, it is wired) near the window.

Should be fine. UVB exposure is a long-term issue. Even if he got no exposure for several weeks it wouldn't be a big deal. The main thing they need is heat to digest, but it doesn't even need to come from a light. As long as you can find some way to have him at between 95 and 105ish degrees for 2-3 hours after feedings he'll be fine. Even an electric blanket could work, just make sure its not too hot.
