When this happened to me I still had running water and I heated up a hot waterbottle and put it in his tank. I also just covered the tank with a blanket to keep in any heat that was still there. Osiris just went to sleep for the day and the next day the power was back
Thank you for the suggestion! It was getting so cold in the house that I got scared and ended up bringing him to school with me. This way I'm sure he will be okay and I can keep a close eye on him. Thank goodness I brought him with me because it is supposed to go down to 18ºF tonight and my house will be so cold.

Hot water bottle is a good idea, just keep refilling it every hour or so, but it will need to be covered so it doesn't burn him. Or hand warmers from walmart [ they get very hot, so you will have to cover or wrap them as well ] Or if you have a backpack or fanny pack that you can wear next to your body and then wear a coat or blanket over that so he gets a little heat from you, that might be an option. Hopefully the crews will get your power on ASAP !
Thank you for your help! I brought him and his lamps to my little place at school. Thankfully they made an exception to the pet rule due to the circumstances. We made a few phone calls to the crews today and they are servicing so many people right now it could be days. The main power wire that goes to our house to the box ripped the box clean off the house when a branch fell on it.

If your house doesn't get too cold while the power is out (below 65) he should be ok. The water bottle and blanket idea is a good one. If you only have cold water, you could heat up water on a grill for a hot water bottle.
You can also keep him warm by keeping him under your shirt, or against you under a blanket or something. If you both can tolerate that anyway.
Hope your power comes back soon!
Thank you for your awesome suggestions! He is safe, warm, and at school with me after my apartment allowed him to stay. I hope my power comes on soon too. It looks like it will be a few days.

You did a great job! Sometimes we worry that their conditions aren't always perfect, but they're equipped to endure some changes and prove to be tough little guys. Did your power come back on?
Aw, thanks! I am always so surprised to see what these little guys can endure. He behaved so well on the car ride up to school under my coat. He didn't take that long to acclimate to his new surrounding either. What a trooper! My power is not on yet unfortunately. Hopefully it will be on soon.

You did a good job with your quick thinking. Hope your power is back on now.
Thank you! The power may still take a few days. At least he is safe and warm for now.
