So I was snooping around craigslist this weekend for a larger enclosure for my Bruce, and I happened upon a listing for an old radio cabinet.
I'm going to pick it up tomorrow, I hope. I'll replace most of the speaker panels with glass, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the back. The back is removable, so I can't decide if I should leave it or replace it with glass too. I'm going to cut large rectangles out of the front doors and put glass in those and then throw some vents on the sides.

The coolest thing is that the table part of the cabinet slides open so I can put my lighting fixtures in there.
The cabinet's dimensions are 38 x 17 x (25 high).

yeah, I saw those! They do seem nice, but are way out of my price range. I think I'll be spending less than 70 bucks on this new project in total (woot!). I'm going to get it measured for glass tomorrow and I'm going to pick up some tile for the flooring. The last thing I have to worry about is what to do about the back. It's this old particle board that doesn't look super nice, but it doesn't look super horrible either. Maybe I'll paint it; who knows!

It's almost too cool looking to tear apart! The only thing I'd be worried about is the width... at 17" it's kind of narrow... It wouldn't take long to outgrow the tank. Depending on much work you want to do, you could extend it out the back about 6-8 inches to make it wider? Might be tricky to make it look "natural" though.

Good luck!

Ohh, thanks for the input! Since the back is this particle board stuff, I might be able to modify it somehow. I'll definitely look into it!

I am a big fan of the vivs from furniture. I am currently working on one now that was an old display case used at a store I worked at. It is the first time I am using the fake rock method for the back drop, which has been a bit fun. My next one will be a dresser. I also like when people walk in and think they see one thing and than bam there is a lizard inside. The dresser will be a dubble tank with a tank inside the dresser and a second tank build on top.

Oh, you definitely need to let me know how your projects turn out! The display case sounds like it's going to be really neat. I finished my viv last week and it turned out great. I'm still thinking of ways to widen it, but it's working well enough for now! Here's the link to where I posted the "finished" product. I haven't had time to get real furniture so my poor Bruce gets a giant log for the time being.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
