I am so angry at the post office right now..... Tuesday Morning I ordered 1k phoenix worms for my Fuego... they were shipped priority on Wed morning. Arrived in my town on Friday around 5am. With priority shipping.. they should have been DELIVERED on Friday because of Delivery confirmation, it said so on the website! Well Saturday comes and goes and STILL no worms.. although on the tracking site it said they were out for delivery.... WTH!!! They better not arrive monday dead or i will complain heavily to the post office and demand they cover the cost (44 bux btw!)... I'm soooo mad i could spit!

Anyone else have this prob with the post office!?

Yes, they take forever and don't listen to special instructions on the package. Pisses me off :angry5:

i really think it depends on the area. i never had any problems with the previous place i lived at. the place before that was horrid.

i wouldn't worry about the phoenix worms arriving dead. they are pretty hardy.

i would call the post office monday morning and complain.

Have superworms sent back in June, box was marked all over "Live feeders, do not expose to cold or extreme heat", was put in the metal mailbox on a 90+ degree day, when they could of either left at office and I could of picked up, or they could of drove another 200 yards to my house. ALL the worms were dead. I only Fed ex now even though they are alot higher atleast the feeders are in good shape. :x :angry5:

Sorry, but Priority Mail is not now nor has it ever been a guaranteed service. Here is what USPS website says about Priority Mail:

"Delivery is typically two to three days to most locations in the US. This is not a guaranteed service."

Yes it is trackable, but no, you don't get your money back if it doesn't get there in two to three days. Or more.

Delivery confirmation gets you zip. It only indicates when a delivery has been made. It is not a guarantee of when something is to be delivered.

You can complain to the PO all day long, but it will do you no good. Complain to the company that used USPS for their shipping needs. But be prepared to pay more if you require a guarantee...

Priority Mail is a very cost effective way to ship something with tracking, and usually it works pretty good. It sucks when it doesn't, and we've all been there. But if I were you, I would complain to the company that shipped them, and I'm assuming here that they guarantee live arrival of their worms.

Yea, I know... :( their tracking stuff just can't be trusted. Bottom line is they're gonna do squat for ya, and maybe even enjoy it!
Haven't ever had that problem with anything live- but then I live in a rural area and the poeple at the PO know everybody. I had them call me once on a Sunday morning, they had just gotten a box of day old chicks (you can imagine the noise!) and even though they were closed, allowed me to come get them. What they'll do (in a small town) and what they are required to do are two different things, though.
Well you'll find out soon enough how well those expensive worms travel! Hopefully the company will accept their part in this. Shipping live stuff out on a Wednesday is not very smart if you ask me. Even plant suppliers don't do that. They need to make good. Save your frustration for them!

Unless the shipping label had "Hold at Post Office" checked at the time of printing, they will not hold regardless of temperature. Even if it is marked though, they may still send it out for delivery (happened to me once). The only way to ensure that a package is held at the post office if it's too hot or cold to leave outside is to hold mail for at least 3 days (their minimum) during the arrival window.

I could go on and on about the post office and their unreliability and the attitude of their office workers but it might exceed the character count allowed in one post. Realize that USPS is the cheapest way to go and you typically get what you pay for with them.

i agree and disagree.

it always depends on the people.

it may sometimes take longer, but i always receive my packages from the post office. and i only ship through them, and have not gotten any complaints of people not getting their packages (although once it did go south instead of west, but still made it to its destination). but i don't ship anything live.

when i order something that gets sent via UPS, my packages arrive damaged. the boxes look like the were kicked around and stepped on. one was full of live feeders and the box was so damaged that the superworms were able to crawl out of the box. plus i had broken containers with hornworms.

it comes down to the people who handle them. they obviously don't care about what they do, because they just throw the boxes around whether it's marked 'live feeders' or 'fragile'.

it may not be the case for all delivery companies everywhere, but you learn what works best in your area.

Ok.. got my got my worms! LOL that sounds wrong!

Here's how it went down....
Heard the post man outside my door... so went to talk to him... He had no idea what I was talking about.. so i explained that on the tracking it went out for delivery on saturday and had arrived on friday. Finally i mentioned 'live feeders' and he had that lightbulb go on... and told me he passed it to his supervisor and i was supposed to get a phone call!... which i didn't. But he gave me one of those papers to go pick up a package ... thank goodness! Get to the post office.. wait in line... finally get up there and hand him the paper and he goes to look.. .he's gone for like 15 minutes looking and comes back to tell me a supervisor will come get the details from me.. because he cant' find it. (the post man who filled the paper out didn't put a tracking number on the slip!).... so the supervisor comes out to get my info and i got the tracking number off my new smart phone! but just as she was going to go look another post lady found it... sheeeeesh! and guess what! they ares till alive! YAY!

Anyway.. Fuego is interested in them.. ate a few.. but likes to sit there and watch then like "what the hell are these thingies?" then he will eat another one lol! so i think they will be just fine for him :) he seems to like them ok! Thank goodness! Phoenix worms for the win!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
