Good afternoon everyone.
I need a little bit of advice and I figured this is the best place to ask it.
I own a female beardie, named Bubbie, who is turning three years old in November this year. I've had her since she was about 2 months old, and I purchased her from a local pet store.
I'm thinking about getting another beardie friend for her, however I am not looking to breed, so I'll be looking for a female. She has not had any other contact with another beardie since I've owned her, and I am pretty sure it would not be a good idea to just up and throw another beardie in her cage with her. She is not aggressive by any means, and I don't think she would have a problem with another beardie in the cage. But I would just like to make sure of that before I purchase another.
A guy who works at the pet store that I bought her from owns around 30 beardies that are his personally (not the pet stores) and he takes care of. I was thinking about asking him if either:
A) I could borrow one of his female beardies and see how my girl would handle being introduced to another beardie.
B) Let him borrow her for a day or so and see how she would react with all of his beardies.
(Although I'm more for A because I don't want her to get shocked/depressed and/or pregnant.)
My questions for you:
-If you've had any experience introducing a new beardie to your current beardie, how did it go?
-What kind of steps did you take for introducing them and/or seeing how they would react with another?
-If there is any other advice you could provide me with, I would greatly appreciate it.
