Possible Tail Rot, Weird Poop, and Not Eating

So my beardie is about 3 months old. This is my first ever beardie and I've been doing my very best to stay on top of his care. She gets fed 2-3 times a day. Each of her feedings last about 10-15 minutes and she gets fed around 20 to 30 crickets at a time before she's full. She poops about once a day and I always clean it and take out the tile and clean it when she's done (she usually poops in the same spot so it's super easy). She has a basking log where it's gets to about 100-103 degrees and a area to cool off that is about 75 degrees. I also have a UVB light as well that goes across the top of his tank. I clean her tank regularly as well to make sure she's in a nice environment.

Yesterday I noticed she ate a few less crickets than usual but I didn't think too much of it because she has been shedding and during her last two sheds she didn't eat as much so I just figured that was the reason why. But today when she pooped it looked like the crickets did not digest in her stomach. I could see whole pieces of legs and even a head. This has never happened to me before.Usually her poops are very consist and clean.

The only things I can thing of that could have possibly happened is 1. she is sick. Or 2 is it the calcium I put on the crickets I fed him yesterday? Like I mentioned previously this is my first time owning a beardie. I usually gut load my crickets by feeding the carrots and other yummy foods and providing them those gels for water. I've never had issue before using these. However, I had done some reading and people said you are supposed to dust your crickets with calcium powder before you feed your beardie. So yesterday that is what did. I used the Zoo Med Repti Calcium. I am afraid that maybe I put too much and it upset her stomach or something?

After I cleaned out the poop I tried to feed her but she just went onto her hammock to get away from the the crickets and showed no interest in eating any of them. So she has not eaten all day and I am worried. Will this killer her?

I was also looking at her tail and it appeared rather dark. I was afraid that this was tail rot but I am not sure as this is my first reptile. I did give her a bath just to try and make her feel better in case her stomach was upset but it didn't seem to do anything for her tail. The bath didn't last very long though as it seemed to stress her out even more. It

Her tail also doesn't really appear to feel any different than the rest of her tail... and she still seems to have feeling it.

I am planning on taking my beardie to the vet. But tomorrow is Sunday and they are not open so I have to wait until Monday. I am just not sure what I should be doing right now. Her beard is a bit dark but she is basking. I am not sure if it was me trying to help her with the bath that has her stressed or me bothering her to get her out of her tank to take a picture of her tail has her stressed out.

Sorry this is so long. I am just scared and freaking out. I really do not want to lose my beardie. Any advice on what I should do until Monday would be very appreciated.

So I actually witnessed what happened and my beardie did not poop out the partially digested crickets but rather she threw them up. What do I do?

Hi there, sounds like you've got a pretty healthy dragon, no sign of tail rot there. Their tails naturally darken tapering to the end. The vomiting will be from the crix either being a bit too big or from being fed too much too late on the previous day. Can you post a pic of the cricket you are feeding him next to a coin ?


They recover pretty quickly, in a day or so he'll be eating again. Be sure the crix are not larger than the space between the beardie's eyes and don't feed a big meal in the evening ever.

She did eat a bit later than she usually does. Work kept me longer than originally planned but I still wanted my dragon to get a third meal in. And again, I am also afraid that I might have put too much calcium powder on the crickets.

When do you think I should try feeding my beardie again? Should I be worried that she didn't eat today?

Feeding her late is what did it, no need for a 3rd feeding if there isn't time to digest it. She looks very good + healthy, no need for a vet or to worry. Dusted crickets are fine, she needs calcium but just do so lightly. Remember, when we vomit we are not interested in food for a day or so, same with beardies. She will bounce right back.
