Possible Respiratory Infection; Best Medication?

Hello,
My adult male Beardie, has a possible upper respiratory infection (He has; labored breathing, holding mouth agape, excessive production of saliva, sleeping vertical, hissing/huffing sounds accompany his labored breathing, coughs occasionally, he's got some crusty stuff on the inside of his mouth.) I think it was caused by too high humidity and too low basking temps. He loves to swim and sometimes breaths some water into his lungs, which he then coughs. I have raised his baking temps which should help a lot.

I am taking him to the vet tomorrow and I would like to know what the BEST MEDICATION or TREATMENT is before we go there so I trust that the vet is giving him the right meds. I have read that BAYTRIL is what is commonly prescribed. Is that the best treatment? Or what is the best treatment?
Thanks so much for any feedback!

Baytril is the antibiotic of choice and is what I would want my vet to give. Keep him warmer then normal, especially at night and drop the humidity way down. I'd also discourage the swimming if he is breathing in that much water. If he has a water dish in his cage, remove it.

You also might want to think about trying Reptaid.
There's been a few discussions on here about it, and it's been said to be successful in clearing up RIs, with less of the side effects of harsher antibiotics such as Baytril. Just a thought.

Oh that sounds great! Can you get Reptaid from the pet store? I might try that for now, since I just found out that my vet isn't able to see him until monday. So that'd be wonderful if the reptaid worked to clear it up. Thanks! :D

As far as I know you have to order it online.

That is their website. There's also a list of retailers, so you might be able to find one near you.
I'm a big fan of holistic treatments, so it would definately be my first option. However nothing can replace vet care.
Keep us posted!

Okay thanks! It's on its way, can't wait to start treating him with it! I hope it works, so he doesn't have to have antibiotics.
I'll post updates. Thanks again! :D

Honestly I like the one my vet gave me over baytirl,

My vet used TMS (SMZ-TMP) Antibiotic 240mg/ml

Either one works, I just prefer the other one over baytril

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
