Can beardies eat pill bugs (rolly pollies)? I was just curious because I can get plenty for free in my yard although I've not read one article that mentions pills bugs in a beardies diet.

Feeding wild caught bugs is not recommended, they can carry parasites or worse deadly chemicals!

If you want to add them to the diet, here is what to do:
1) Put them in a container; glass or plastic
2) For substrata, use rotting leaves, fruit/vegetables.
3) Have bark for them to hide under.
4) You MUST keep it humid-they breath through gills. misting, sponges filled with water, etc.
5) Once you get babies, separate them into a second container, you now have a clean colony to breed from.

It is a pain in the posterior to keep them moist enough in a house. Been there, killed them, done that!

If the parents had some sort of toxin on or in them, it will be passed into the soil. Yes it will be diluted but residue will still be there, when you move the babies to a "clean" tub, it can be passed with them. I would not recommend doing so, if you want to feed sowbugs, order captive raised ones from a breeder.

Wow I didn't know you could breed them yourself! If free ones out of the yard could do harm I'll just stick with crickets and stuff available at the pet store.
