My bearded dragon was resting on my shoulder and for some reason he when I stood up he jumped off but when he landed on the floor it was hard and now he's not moving the back half of his body. I'm scared he may have broken his legs or his spine. Does anyone have any advice?

Poor thing....it's likely either a severe sprain or an actual broken spine. :( An experienced retile vet is needed to take Xrays + possibly prescribe pain + anti inflammatory meds. Beardies don't belong on shoulders [ not lecturing you, just please learn from this ] but people continue to perpetuate this extremely dangerous practice. I hope he turns out just to be stunned + sprained but it may be much worse.

Oh no, I hope he feels better! From what you said, if he is not using the back half of his body, he most likely damaged/broke his spine. Get him to an experienced reptile vet ASAP ask this can become life threatening. When you feed him, hand feed him your desired protein so he doesn't injure himself any more than he already has. Give him plenty of liquids via a syringe and lower any high areas in his tank. Good luck! Please report back to us as soon as possible. :)

Hello,

Oh dear, I am sorry this happened to your dragon. :( What is his size & age?
You definitely will need to get him in to see the vet for x-rays to see what type of damage has been done.
Do be sure his basking is lowered so that he doesn't have to even attempt to climb to bask, etc.
Keep him warm in his tank overnight, around 80 or so to help his immune system out right now.
Let us know how he is doing.

Ok guys here's an update on my breaded dragon. I took him to the vet for X-rays and fortunately it was only a bruised spine. The vet gave me some medicine and specific instructions for the next few days and said he should be ok. Needless to say I learned a valuable lesson. I never knew you weren't supposed to have breaded dragons on your shoulder. The woman at pet smart told me it was ok. ( shows you how much they know about reptiles) thank you everyone for your help and support

That's a relief! I hope he feels better soon! I advise against buying reptiles from Petsmart, as they don't take care of them really well. I got my first dragon form Petsmart and she died 2 weeks later form ADV. They said she had nothing wrong with her. Best of luck with him!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
