My bearded dragon has been acting crazy lately and been running around the tank a bunch and just having lots of energy. She has been eating well, but this morning she has been trying to dig through the floor tiles in her tank. Last year she got crazy around this time, but never dug as much. I’ve weighed her and I don’t think she has gained any weight. If she had eggs how much would she gain? And how can I tell if she’s carrying eggs or not?

Hello,

How old is your girl? If she is developing eggs, her appetite will likely increase a decent
amount & she could gain 50+ grams depending on how many eggs she has. There are other
members on here that have had females lay eggs so I'm sure others will chime in with regards
to weight gain.
You can sometimes tell though, by their shape when they are later stage. They take on the
shape more of a pear in the lower belly when the eggs start to drop to be ready to be laid.
They stop eating in the last few days to maybe a week before they lay.
It sounds like she is very active though. You could be proactive & make a laybox for her, too
just in case.
If you do suspect she is developing eggs, be sure to include some extra calcium to help her
bones out.

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
