Soooooo Spike has yet to do his business in the bath. I'm wondering what it is about the bath that makes them poop? Bath time is a very new ritual for Spike, but still, I wonder why it is that they go in the bath, and will Spike ever start to do it?

It took about 4-5 baths before Iggy did her first poop in the bath, now everytime within the first 3 min of being in the water. As for why? not sure... Perhaps something to do with the way they puff their bodies up in the water, maybe pushes it out? I know they also absorb water through their vent, so maybe it's just a comfort thing?

My little guy has only pooped once in the bath but then again he isnt to fond of them. I have heard that the warm water releases there muscles and makes it easier for them to go in the warm water. I am also babysitting a 3yr old dragon and he wont even go without a bath. If we miss a day and dont bath him he is all black until his next bath.

Does your dragon enjoy bath time?
Ruben doesnt particularly enjoy his baths so what I did was sit with him by the bath and basically made him stay in it untill he pooped (topping up the water to keep it nice and warm).
Then as soon as he pooped I would scoop him out and give him his favourite treat (blueberries).
I continued this daily for about two weeks untill he figured out that when he poops, bad baff stops and he get yummies.
Now he poops about 2 minutes after he hits the water.
Voila!

It is a mixture of things really.
Their muscles relax in the bath, the moment you let go of them into the bath they are sometimes stressed and tense for 2 seconds, the warmth of liquid entering their vent, the way they puff up with air, they are use to the daily habit and much more i think contribute to it.

It cant just be one thing.

Chimera 7 months will not poo in his viv. He will hold it intill hes in the bath. I have all mine on a time frame tho i get them bathed and clean every morning about a hour after lights on. Zero 6yrs if he dosnt get his bath at 6:30 am he will poo in his viv :| The two 8 week olds well they poo to many times(3 to 4) a day still to train them but first thing in the morning they poo in the bath. I kind of did what Holly did, kept them in intill they poo then dry them off and give a treat (yummy worm). I think the warm water relaxes them. If you can get them bath poo trained it makes cleaning out the vivs so much easier :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
