Poop.. Parasites..!!!!

So quick facts about the enclosure,

My little baby girl is around 11 weeks and last time she was weight at the vet she was 7g

I switched her to a ten gallon because she is so tiny and I have issues getting the temps up,

ReptiSun® 5.0 Compact Florescent - Buying a Reptisun this week

Repti Basking Spot Lamp (100w)

Temps are taken with a digital probe thingy hover around 95-103

So last week I took Tinkerbell to the vet because she wasn't eating much and was sorta lethargic and she had a little cut on her tail and her vent was swollen

He thought it looked like parasites/worms and he prescribed diluted Panacur and he gave me some critical care food (did not say how much to give everyday though)

I have done 5 days of the Panacur and she seems a lot more alert but she had mostly stopped eating crickets and bugs till today (I got her to eat 5 wax worms) and she hasn't pooped in around 3 days which is weird because before she was going 1-2 times a day (once even 3)

Her butt isn't as swollen but it looks like there is blood in there also her belly looks super full..

I have been giving her baths everyday

Hi there....poor little 7 gram baby ! One thing you can do is try to get extra hydration in her mixed in with the Carivore Care. She may be slightly impacted, possibly the reason she has blood around her vent. What was she eating before, how big exactly were the crickets ? It's imperative for babies to eat only insects that are smaller then the length between their eyes.

Did the vet not check the feces before giving her the dewormer ? At least Panacur is not too harsh, but there really should be a definite diagnosis before administering meds.

And it would be best to get her in a bigger tank, it's easy to overheat a baby in a tiny 10 gal. Your 100 watt bulb should be good enough to heat a larger tank but if it doesn't get yourself an aluminum dome light fixture, they reflect more heat.

Be wary of feeding waxworms, they aren't too good for beardies.

I will show you a picture of what the vet gave me I definitely don't think it's the right stuff it's like for dogs and cats. I think she is impacted or constipated whatever you want to call it.. Is there anything I can do about it?? I am so careful about the size of her bugs and I am always pulling off the legs of the crickets because she isn't very good at hunting yet.

He seemed pretty certain that the issue was worms I guess and since he's a vet I trusted him. Also he said Panacur is really mild even if she doesn't have worms.

I had her in a 40 gal before but it seems way too big and the temps were super off.. Even with the 100 watt the temps don't get over 103 which sorta sucks I would like it to be warmer. I think this is the fixture I have on there right now Combo Deep Dome Dual Lamp Fixture by zoo med.

Could you tell me what the issue with the waxworms are other than I know they have a high fat content and can be addicting

As long as you are positive that she has a good heat gradient [ make sure she has a cool side around 80 degrees] then the little tank is O.K., but if you want to put her back in the 40 gal, the basking temp. of 103 is perfectly acceptable. Waxworms are fatty and can cause vomiting if too many are eaten, plus they're addictive like you said.

That can of food is probably the type for dogs/cats....it's not bad for a short time, but not really the right stuff . You can just get some baby food chicken, green beans + squash. Add a few drops of water and offer that to her. Unfortunately it spoils easily [ even in the fridge ] after 4-5 days so freeze some of it to make it last longer.

I'm not too sure about the heat gradient I will check.. The temps were in the 80s in the 40gal so I will try and play around with it and see what I can do. I will stick to the wax worms until I am out then maybe order something else? Any staple worm suggestions?

How much of the food should I be giving her.. I feel bad feeding now her belly is so full and she doesn't like the siringe as it is. I can buy some baby food. Also she drinks a ton in the bath and I have been giving her 2 a day. Is there anything I can do to help her poop? I am so worried. What about puréed veggies or something so there's no preserves etc.

The water will help her poo and so will the baby food squash and green beans. Other natural laxatives are canned pumpkin, unsweetened applesauce, baby food prunes, and a few drops of veg. oil mixed in. She looks a bit bloated but not in distress in the picture, and I forgot to say what a cutie she is. :)

A good staple worm would be Phoenix worms.

Hello,

That is what I was wondering as to whether or not the vet did a fecal exam before prescribing the panacur? How much panacur did she receive? Luckily the panacur isn't terribly hard on the system but it can still upset their GI tract a little bit though.
Definitely double check the temperatures in the 10 gallon tank because the smaller tanks make it very hard to keep them from overheating. The cooler end could go to 75-80 to help keep the warm & basking spot from going to high in that smaller tank.
I agree, phoenix worms would be great for her, she should love them.
She has great colors & is small but doesn't look horribly bloated, maybe just a little bit.
Can you get her some probiotics such as non dairy soy yogurt or non dairy acidophiliz?
You can add some sugar free applesauce, canned pumpkins or fresh along with a drop of olive oil to help baby food mix to help her system out.
Let us know how she is doing.

.5 ml of panacur and no the vet didn't do a fecal. He said do it for five days take a week rest than another 5 days

I have been checking the temps like crazy it gets pretty cold here in Vancouver, Canada. It hasn't even gotten hotter than 105

She's doing well, I have a question though I'm pretty confused about. She excreted two very white urates one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Also they smell super bad and one of them had like green on it. Otherwise she seems really alert etc. Also she drinks tons of water and I have been giving tons of baths.. I really just want her to poop idk if that is weird but I feel like things will be better after she poops.. I can't believe she's still eating and not pooping ya know? I am going to buy some stuff for her tomorrow. Thank you so much guys this site is so amazing.

Hello,

Oh I didn't know you were in Canada! I hope the weather isn't too bad up there.
Hm, the .5ml of panacur is not much, but it depends on how strong it was! That is most likely why she is backed up some, from the meds.
Let us know if you are able to find the baby food to feed to her with the applesauce & canned or fresh pumpkin. You could also try squash baby food too.
The urates were soft though? The urates have a smell or the overall stool itself?
The A/D can also cause a change in stool consistency & smell, too.

Let us know how she is doing.

I know I am not in the clear totally but I am pretty excited about this.. TINKER BELL POOPED..!!

I know this is sorta gross and weird.. but here is some info about her little poops.

She has gone three separate times today.. One was brown with the urates the other two were really black but all pretty normal shape size..

She still looks really bloated but I think a little better also I am a little worried about the abrasion on her tail it is looking really weird I thought it was a shed at first but I don't think so.. I am going to take a pic to show you guys.

I am a little bit more at ease now that she has pooped.

She didn't eat today I am a little worried I am going to do some of the emergency stuff tonight.

Hello,

The color of the stool may change along with the consistency anytime meds are introduced into the system.
Try to keep her as hydrated as you can & continue giving softer foods also if you feel it's helping her out. Is she still active & basking today?
I am sure that she probably isn't quite as bloated either, passing everything through now.
Let us know how she is doing & how her tail is, too. If you can get pictures of that too, that would be great.

Yeah I figured that had something to do with it.. She drinks lots of water in her baths and eats veggies throughout the night (I don't know why it's the only time she will.

She hasn't been basking much actually she has been hiding all day which is quite weird for her she is normally very social and curious as to what's going on

Below are some photos of her tail.. Quite honestly it looks like it's going to come off like a shed like it looks like it will come off any minute. She pooped again today and she is looking pretty normal bloat wise. Also she ate two worms today and she has had stress marks almost all day and any time I hold her she squirms and gets a black beard but the beard isn't that abnormal.

Thanks so much guys this is such a whirlwind I just want my little baby to grow big and strong.

Hello,

Goodness, she is super tiny! LOL
It does look like that skin will come off pretty soon then. At least she did eat a little bit today. I think she will eventually get used to being handled, but some take a little longer than others to fully adjust.
Hopefully she will start to bask a little more so she can digest her food better. Are you keeping the tank around 80 overnight for her?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
