poop not formed

So everyday I give my beardie a bath and usually they come out looking like a log. But recently his poops are coming out separated. Im not sure how to explain it. It disperses from his vent and has no form to it. I heard this was a problem due to heating but my temps are at 111. Can anyone give me any info. ps. I have never done a fecal or check up but I will asap after this shed is done.

This happened to my beardie and it turned out he had a parasite, giardia to be specific. It was undigested pieces in diarrhea and came with a terrible smell. Often when there are undigested pieces in the feces and/or diarrhea it can be an indicator of low temps but if your temps are good I would advise a fecal check to be sure there are no parasites.

Did the medicine they gave you to treat the parasites make your beardie stop eating? That's what I'm scared of the most. I don't want him to stop eating and getting skinny

Actually he had stopped eating feeders before the meds due to the parasite, he's never been a good eater though, but he never stopped eating his greens just feeders. He still pooped everyday as normal it was just fowl. The 3rd day into the meds he started eating again. You just have to be sure to give him a probiotic while on antibiotics to replenish the good gut flora that the meds kill.

Did the vet give you the probiotics or did u have to buy it on your one? Mine is acting normal as ever. He's eating and and pooping normally

I had to buy it myself. I've used Benebac and acidophiliz, the acidophiliz was easier to dose and Mem seemed to like it better. You can find Benebac at petco, acidophiliz you can order online. I got mine here: http://www.beardeddragons.co

There may very well be nothing wrong with him at all since there are no behavior or eating changes, but beardies are very good at hiding illnesses from us. I would just keep an eye on his poo and if it continues to be diarrhea get him a fecal check. I don't have to even bring my beardies in, I just drop off a sample and pick up meds if needed. Most will do this if you've seen them once before.

No they'll give you the antibiotics I thought you asked about probiotics. The actual meds are provided by your vet, the probiotics, to replenish good gut flora, you'll will probably have to buy yourself.

I believe the dosing instructions are listed on the packaging but for my 440 gram boy he gets .5 ML of acidophiliz per day at least 6 hours after giving the antibiotics. This is given during treatment and for a week or so after. If you bring a sample in to the vet and it turns out that he does have parasites and is prescribed meds you can repost with the dosage to have someone verify if it's correct.
