PO Boxes

Do any of you have PO Boxes to make it easier to get bugs shipped to you? I was supposed to have an order of Phoenix Worms held today and even called them this morning to arrange pickup and when I get to the post office am told that they are out for delivery. Then they tell me that I should have checked my tracking number and I would have saved myself a trip. !@#$%^ SO ANGRY.

Anyway I was thinking about getting a PO Box so I don't have to worry about this anymore but was just wondering. I want to get one of the small PO Boxes which is only 3 by 5.5 which is obviously not big enough to fit anything. I am just wondering if they will hold it at the counter for me to pick up or if they usually have bigger boxes for packages and just put the keys in the smaller box? It might just be a post office by post office basis but it would be nice to have a bit of a general consensus. Also it would totally be worth the money if I didn't have to stand in line anymore.

But I hate to give them more money and invest in their services to prevent their incompetence. Grr.

I have the same trouble. I bought 1000 supers last summer and had hubby looking for the package before he went to work (2nd shift) and they left the box on the front porch in the sun. Cooked every last worm and that box stunk! Got replaced and all was well. Just placed an order for butterworms. Tracked the box and they were supposed to be out for delivery today; mail is usually delivered around 1:30, again had hubby looking for it before he left for work.No box. Today was low 50's and drizzling, so the butters ought to do just fine if they leave it on the porch, right? When I get home no box; track it and see that they 'tried ' to deliver at 4:40 pm. I didnt know they worked that late! Didnt leave the "we tried to deliver " card in the mailbox, and didnt leave box. Hubbys off tomorrow so he'll watch for it. Argh!

Can't answer the question on the PO box though it sounds like a great idea in theory! just thought I'd throw an idea out for a situation where they leave the box in the sun like lauram mentioned. my mailman usually delivers in the morning, but whenever I have a box he delivers it at the end of his shift (after I've gone to work for the night), so I leave a note that my porch door is open and please leave them inside the door where they'll be in shade and not in direct sun. If you don't have a screened in porch maybe you could leave a note to leave the box behind some shrubs in your garden or something like that. You don't have to worry about it so much now that its getting cold, but its a thought for next summer!

Luckily none of my worms were dead but I am still upset on principle. If this had happened a few weeks ago, they wouldn't have survived. I am very happy that cooler temps are coming in. I think that I will wait until spring to get a PO box but it is going to be a definite must for me.
