Pneumonia in beardie

My bearded dragon was recently diagnosed with pneumonia, I went to the vet and have medicine but she absolutely hates it. I put the medicine with jam and have made her eat it but is a huge fight. I am wondering if there are any solutions or easier ways for her to take the medicine. It is .02ml and I use a syringe. Also any advice to make her eat more? I don't think she is eating anywhere near enough. (2 crickets and veggies is no where near enough for a 11 month old :/)

What i do with my beardie when i have to give him medicine is get some baby food and mix the medicine in with it. Dont use a whole bottle of baby food just get a serving the bearded dragon will eat. My bearded dragon loves banana baby food!

Ok! I will definitely try baby food, :/ the jam gets stuck on her snout and very hard to clean

Poor thing.... I've had pheumonia A (caught it when I was in hospital being treated for a nasty case of cellulitis) .... he''ll be feeling absolutely wretched.

One option is mix the oral medicine with manuka honey .... all my gang love manuka honey and it has natural antiviral and antibiotic properties too as well as being yummy.

Did the vet suggest nebulization using F10 ?

Ok, I'll look into the honey, I've never heard of nebulization or F10 even, what exactly is it?

F10SC is a veterinary disinfectant mainly used to sanitize surfaces. It has also been used as a topical treatment for yellow fungus and as mentioned, in nebulizers to treat respiratory infections. Antibiotics can also be used this way so I'd discuss with your vet to see if this is an appropriate action in this case. I will try to get one, but I've spent so much this week alone on the vet visit and medicine :/ I will see how much, but if I can't get one anytime soon any other options to clean the tank with?

Steam works well to disinfect the tank. You could use a watered down bleach solution but would need to rinse and dry everything very well after using it.

Ok the steam Is a lot more cost effective. I'll do that right away, how often do you think I should while she has this? And how often after? Just wondering if I'll be needing to keep it a lot more clean after this scare.

You have a steam cleaner on hand already? If not, they aren't expensive. I got mine for about $45. It's a 1000w tea kettle style steamer with a hose and spray nozzle. The refills are just water so that's free and easy. That said, F10SC is highly concentrated so it lasts for a long time. My 3.4oz bottle has lasted over a year with regular use. Only .71ml go into a 12oz spray bottle of water. f10 in dilute form (1part in 150water) will kill ALL viruses, bacteria, fungi in 30mins contact, simply spray on , let air dry for 30mins, wipe up any remaining residue f10 .... guaranteed sterile afterwards.

been using the stuff in my lizard tanks and sterilize silkworm egg hatching tubs for years, a 250ml bottle of f10SC goes a VERY LONG WAY and is great value.

Where might I find this F10? And can I do the dilute in a spray bottle by any chance? I am going to clean the smaller items in her tank with the dishwasher ( on steam clean ). I am in canada so only areas I'll find this is maybe at a drugstore like London drugs. If I can have it shipped any site you know that has the cheapest price? I have done syringe medication with Baytril and have noticed a HUGE increase in appetite again . The energy is still around the same but I think she is improving.

my first shot would be to google F10SC , and you'll find someone in your country/state pretty quickly via GOOGLE who stocks it, or maybe visit a vet (all the vets here have it in stock for sale to clients.
Another good place is to visit Ebay and search for F10SC.

Hey guys, thought I'd do an update. So my beardie has been on medicine for almost 4 weeks now. She has been eating more and more active; she does still breathe very heavily whenever she's the slightest stressed out. She has 1 more week before going to the vet for x rays to see if it might be scar tissue in the lungs.

Are you considering using a nebulizer possibly?
