My beardie seemed fine today so I let her out to run about. With while she was sat on the end of my bed she peed, something she has never done outside her tank. I put her back but she kept wandering around doing little wees every where. She seems uncomfortable, I bathed her and rubbed her tummy, but she has not improved any. She keep passing just liquid. I tried offering her food but she just ignores it. what could be wrong with her? pls help

Hello,

How is your girl today?
Has her beard been black at all?
How old is your dragon?

Please run over your tank setup for us, just to be sure everything is set up for her properly.
What type & brand of UVB light do you use, a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light? How old is the light?
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use to measure the temperatures with? A round stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
You took the sand out, correct? What type of substrate did you use to replace it with?

Hello,

Have you changed your UVB light in 2 years? If not, you will need to as they don't last for that long & emit the UVB adequately after that period of time.
How is she doing today?

ofc i changed the bulb, but the same make the same type. Today she started running around and throwing herself at the glass and sides of the tank. She tends to do this when she wants to poop. I put her in a bath and rubbed her tummy. There is a very hard lump near her back end. I rubbed her and she started to really strain and try. little bit of sand and dirt came out, but little else. After a while she seemed to get to stressed and tired so i let her out. She still doesnt eat but is still active. I cant get her to a vet til next week. What can i do for her til then?

If you have her on sand, please get rid of it immediately, and use paper towels until you can get tile or repti-carpet. The sand is what is stopping her from pooping.. sand blocks their digestive system. This results in impaction, which can harm or even kill them if left untreated. Regardless of what pet shops tell you, no sand is digestible and it is not safe for bearded dragons, and neither is any other loose substrate.
Next time you give her a bath with belly massage, put a few drops of olive oil on the tip of her nose while she is in the bath. Dragons will instinctively lick food off the tip of their nose. You can also use unsweetened applesauce, or organic baby food prunes. This helps your dragon to pass her stool more easily with less straining.. the more she strains, the more she is hurting.
What is the temperature of the basking spot and the temperature of the cool side of her viv? The cool side should be 80 and her basking spot should be 100-105 degrees (110 if she is a baby). If the temps aren't correct, she won't be able to digest her food properly.

Hello,

Please as suggested, do take her off of the sand. That will cause an impaction which is very hard to pass.
The baby food and the olive or mineral oil is very helpful. The baths are very helpful too. Please let us know how she is doing.

I was very worried last night, I really thought i would wake up to find her dead. I got up very early and removed all sand, put down some paper towels and gave her some olive oil. She seemed really out of it, didnt like leaving her alone but had to go out. When I got back she was almost black and looking very sorry for herself. I picked her up and sat with her for a while and she perked up and her colour came back. I noticed she had done a very sandy poop, so i guess it is working its way through now. I just gave her another bath and she is now running about like her normal crazy self. Still wont take food but i think the worst is over. ty for all the help. I will keep you posted on how she is doing.

Hello,

I am happy that she seems to have made it through now. I hope that the worst is over for her.
Please keep feeding her soft foods & extra oral fluids right now along with daily baths to help her pass any remaining sand in her system.
Sometimes, it takes months for them to fully get over an impaction.
Is her beard darkened today? Please keep us posted on her.

well as I said before she was very dark when i got home including her beard, but she got her colour back after she got a lot of hugs and attention. As I type this she is having a little nap in her new blanket that I got her today. Think she needs a rest after all the running around.

She has eaten at last!!!! She looked really fed up today, didnt bother gettin up and was very dark. I got her out to give her a hug and she just came back to life again. I let her run around a bit then put her back in her tank. She jumped off her log and went to her food dish and ate everything. I am very happy this is the first thing she has eaten in a long while. She seems to miss her sand but i think its for the best.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
