Heyo,
Im concerned and i really want help, i let my beardie walk around a bit and i noticed he was kind of limping. His right arm is going a little limp and hes staying off of it. His shoulder is protruding a little bit more than the other one. Im really concerned, I've been giving him calcium and UVB. Im told to let him heal it on his own, but if it goes on for more than a week i want to go to a vet. Please help, what can i do to help him
Any replies are helpful thank you

This doesn't sound good at all, and if it's actually "dislocated" you cannot wait to take him, as the longer a joint is "dislocated", the longer blood supply to the joint is usually interrupted, and this can result in the bone dying. Not to mention the extreme pain that happens as long as a joint is actually "dislocated" and not reduced back into the normal position. He would need pain medication if that's the case.

Can you post some photos of him and some close-ups of the shoulder, trying to show us what you mean by "it's sticks out more than the other one"?

Also, how old is he now? I'm asking this because if he's still growing then this is another crucial factor in getting him medical care...and while we're asking question, can you tell us exactly what UVB light you have, list the brand name, the wattage, and the type, meaning is it a compact bulb, a coil/spiral bulb, or a long flurescent tube?

Here is what it looks like, i didnt notice it until i let him walk around. He can move it still, hes just favoring the left arm more. He is 5 months old and ive been giving calcium and UVB. I honestly think its because of the way he sleeps. He always kind of folds his arm and lays down. Much like how it is in the pic. Ive bought serrapeptase to help him. I want it to come asap. Im going to give warm baths 2 or 3 times weekly to prevent swelling.

Hi there, is your little guy a jumper ? Did he by chance fall while you had him out ? Keep all the basking areas low for now so he doesn't have to climb much.

Can you post a picture of the bulb placement, showing if it's on top of the screen or however you have it ? If it's too far away he may not be getting enough uvb to absorb the calcium.

If he did injure it he'll need good uvb exposure and in most cases can resolve without vet intervention but an xray can determine if it's more than just a sprain. An experienced reptile vet only, otherwise they will not know how to help your beardie. Hopefully it just gets better with rest + good uvb.

Hey AHBD, i have my UVB on top of a mesh screen because its a fixture and i do not have anyway to mount within the tank. I have a 22" tube and its 8 to 10 inches above everything in the tank. About 6 or 7 above his basking. He is a crazy jumper. I let my friend hold him and he jumped really far onto her chest and landed a little awkard. I put him down after that and let him walk and he started to favor his left arm. He still has mobility on the right, but he limps slightly. I am currently not home but i will send a pic of the setup soon. Ive ordered serrapeptase, 15 ml, 3000 units, Ive heard it does miracles.

FYI, those green mesh hammocks are not good. They can get their nails caught in them while jumping down, which can dislocate their shoulder or arm. I would take it down for now. Later you can cover it with some fleece. He does look like it hurts. It might be a good idea to take out anything he can jump or climb on.

Hey terry,
I keep it in there in case he ever wants to, but ive never seen him on it. Its a reptile ladder. He has a hammock that i put a small towel on, that he loves. I will take down all of the high things that he can climb.

If it's a bad dislocation , this needs to be reduced under a general by a vet as it will never resolve itself and he'll be permanently disabled without medical attention.
I'd ask a vet to examine the injured shoulder and determine if it's sprained , slightly dislocated (might pop back in by itself, severely dislocated (required vet intervention) or actually broken. Xrays are needed to work out the severity of the injury to the shoulder and the most appropriate treatment plan.

Actually whenever a beardie hurts their foot or any part of their leg they will hold it back like that, even if it's just for a day or two. This gives the appearance that the shoulder is dislocated but it's just the position that the leg is being held that makes it look as if the shoulder is out of place. These things almost always resolve in a few days up to 2 weeks.

Hello everyone,
Banzai, my beardie has shown a little bit of recovery. Though he still favoring the left arm, he is putting a lot more weight on the right than yesterday. However i did notice a slight swelling on the right 2 fingers. I gave him a warm bath as ive heard that can reduce it slightly. The serrapeptase i ordered is on its way and i cant wait any longer. I just want my baby back to normal. Im not sure how much he weighs but he is about 5 months and normal weight. Can anybody help me with doses for the medicine? Its 15 ml, 3000 units any replies helpful thank you

Good to hear that he seems to be a little better. Can you post pics of his fingers ?

As for dosing, Drache613 [ one of the mods. ] can help you with that, just send her a p.m.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
