Please Welcome a new Non-Bearded Friend! *Pics*

I hope that everyone on the forums will please give my new little boy, Caleb Chadley, a Texas Spiny Lizard, a warm welcome to the forums! So far, he's hanging out in Reggie's temporary viv, obviously without Reggie in it. He is approx. 2-3 inches long, a baby, but he also dropped his tail when I caught him which means he's about an inch shorter.

So far, he's eating like a champ, having good poos, and seems perfectly content to stay under the basking light all day, and burrow under the blankies I have in there at night. :love5: He's still skittish, obviously, but I'm determined to defy the odds and turn him into a social lizard. I'm even planning on finding him a female. :roll: What? They can come with me and be spoiled, or get eaten by road runners, their choice.

Wow, those are awful. I'll try to get better ones with an actual camera in good light.

Yup! I'ma catch him a lady friend, and maybe another male.... they say they do a 'date & dash' so in order to get breeding going (which I am looking forward to! BABY LIZARDS!) I may have to switch off mates for the female. :shock: I've always wanted to breed SOMETHING, and I would breed dragons if I HAD THE MONEY for more.

No, Reggie doesn't know! :shock: Caleb's a little guy, only about 3 inches long! Big giant Reggie would attempt to EAT him! :shock: I will wait until Caleb is bigger, thank you very much.

After Reggie's passing, I think I've decided to let Caleb go back to his little house in the outdoor fireplace. He looks too much like a little baby beardie. I keep wondering if Reggie looked similar when he was little, and I can't stand walking into PetCo and seeing the little tiny beardies stare at me as I go past to buy some crickets for the little guy....

What do you guys think?

Even though it seems hard now, Caleb will help you with Reggie's passing. When my baby passed, I bought another even though I wasn't ready. Truth is, it was even harder to look at an empty viv than it was to see a different baby in there. Zinger helped me through. Everyone mourns differently though. Even thought I think you should keep him, it's up to you.

Jacqui....I believe you will know in your heart what's right for you. If little Caleb makes you feel the least bit better...then you should keep him. If you feel in your heart that you need to mourn the loss of Reggie and that Caleb is making it harder on you, then let him go back to the outdoor fireplace. It is totally your decision.

You will by no means be doing an injustice to Reggie if you decide to keep him.

We are all behind you 100% in whatever decision you make!
