Please help

I feel terrible and have never really played with my beardie until now, I love him now though,any way he scratches and claws whenever I try to pick him up,he is about 2 years old, is there any way to make him friendly and social? Also what are some ways to exercise him and for him to have fun.And one last thing what does it mean when he scratches at his glass?

How do you pick him up?

do u scoop him up from under his belly and support his tail as well ?
BD's have this weird thing that they have to have their tails supported as well as the hand under the belly.
Also to make him more social with you try holding him with your hand still in his cage with him and then slowly over time move him and your hand furthure out eventually he will be more comfortable at least thats what I did.
As for the scratching on the glass when mine does that I call it glass dancing that means my BD wants to be picked up or doesnt like it when I ignore him. Both mine do that I have a male and a female that do that in their separate vivs, they have 5 feet of space and they still want to glass dance lol

Mine does that too, but the way we conquered it is but making sure my whole hand is under him so when I lift him up his legs are also on my hand and he feels supported and doesn't claw

I am really afraid of this beardie, although I love animals a lot but there are few of them I am really afraid of.The scratches on it really makes me afraid of this creature.

Wear some thin gloves so you won't have to worry about his claws

Do you think you can over come the fear? If not maybe you need to think about re-homing him!
