Gieco has about 3-4 of his tail encased in shed..its very waxy looking and one scale here and there will fall off...I do give him warm baths 2x daily and use a soft baby toothbrush on it..His set up is 105 basking with a spotlight that also provides uva..he has 2 uvb reptisun 10.0 one in front and one in back on top of the wide screen..openings in the screen are about 1.4 inch and hes outside 20-30 mins per day. ambient air is 95 and cool side is 87 with 2 hides both on the cook and hot side of his 40 gal breeder. He gets calcium with d3 5xweek and reptivite 2x week..not eating really well due to worming meds hes now off of for the 3rd day...eats 20-30 crickets per day hormworms as a treat and dubia or lobster roachs are fed daily. His bowel movements are normal in his bath every morning but also about noon every day he has a watery poo that is well formed and his urates are bright white and well formed. I am thinking the watery poo is due to the worming meds still in his system..hes not stressed usually and active running around his viv. I am a bit concerned about his tail and the watery poo. Any help would be greatly appreciated! He is gaining weight...hes gone from 17 grams 3 weeks ago or so to 57 today..seems to be gaining a gram or two a day. His scales look great and his eyes are bright, mouth is bright pink and not pale. Once a week I do give him baby food greens as hes not yet eating all that much salad which is turnip greens, mustard greens, shredded spaghetti squash, prickly pear and mango or papaya...sometimes will get some babyfood fruit but not much and not often. I keep his viv steam cleaned weekly <cept when he had worms, then every day> and spot clean if he has a booboo in his viv...and hes on tile substrate....basking is about 8-9 inches from his basking light and uvb.

However, the watery poop may not be from the meds as much as it is likely due to being very well hydrated. I am not sure if you are bathing two times a day always or just during his shed phase, but never the less, all these baths are going to produce watery poo and in some cases watery urates. How old is Geico? For a young dragon it is not unusual for a very rapid growth rate. All your husbandry, feeding, etc sounds great. I would not worry too much about the shed. Sometimes is can take while for the greyish areas to finally drop off. My Emmalee had a dry area on her head for a month, which flaked off a few individual scales, and then recently the last two weeks it has been grey, part of that section just sloughed off yesterday, but she has many more areas that are still to come off. So if I count all the time that her head has not looked right, it has been about six weeks. Usually though she takes about 2-4 to shed the areas that I notice are grey. You seem to have everything is check, much more so that a lot of people, so as long as Geico seems health and happy (and he does) I would not worry about the shed, it will come. Again though, if you are really concerned you can rub a little olive oil in the the shed area or use 98-99% pure aloe vera gel without alcohol, and rub that in before his bedtime.

Geico isnt very old.. would say a month and half..got him at petco <he was very healthy coming from them surprisingly> no more than 2 months...it was the waxy appearance of his tail that concerned me. Thank you so much for your response...and yes morning and night bath during sheds...mornings only when hes not shedding.

If the waxy part is where he hasn't shed, don't worry about it. Its normal. Thats how they look before they shed. Don't mess with it, it will come off when its ready too.

As for the runny poo, I would say it has to do with being bathed 2x a day. If his setup is correct and his coloring is fine, I would cut back on the baths and wait a day or two to see if his poo goes back to normal. If it does, it may have just been stress of shedding with too much hydration. But, it wouldn't hurt to have a fecal done. I got my first beardie Sam from Petsmart. And he had coccidia straight from the store. Geico may have parasites.

gave him some acidophaliz...i think it was bathing him to much since hes shedding....just put witch hazel for the 2nd time on his tail and it dried it out enough its finally shedding...it was thick and finally coming off...now his tail is shedding hes much more comfortable...also on the runny poo I think it may be also that hes eating a bit more veggie than he ever has before

That's a very good possibility. I had never thought to use witch hazel to help with shedding. That's a clever idea for stubborn to come off pieces. Where do you buy yours?

got it at walmart...it helps to soothe the itchies and helps dry up the skin on his tail which is now almost completely shed...witch hazel dried that preshed up

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
