please help vent comes out

Here is the deal, Fluffy's vent keeps popping out. I have had to take her to the vet about 6-7 times to have it put back in. It used to only happen once in awhile now it seems to be happening more often.

The vet said that some lizards just have it happen and he went over a list of things to make sure her set up and diet were all good. They are.

Do any of you have any ideas on how I can stop this from happening?

She is on newspaper
she has a MVB from Reptile UV
she eats salads with fruits and veggies and superworms all dusted.
she also gets misted every day or every other day
she also gets bathed.

Please help as I know this hurts her.

Your setup and diet looks fine. I think you should ask your vet on the best thing to do for her.

Now I know you are worried, you should be. Prolapses are something serious. I do know that if you mix a tsp of sugar in some warm water, than add cool water, that will help a prolapse to retract back in.

Has she recently laid eggs ? If so, when was the last laid.
Have you upped your calcium on her ? This helps.

Also, I know it will cost a bit more, but seek out a second Vet opinion. What one missed someone else can find.
I should know, my Father was a Vet for 35 years, and he admits to missing things, and sending patients to a different Vet in hopes they would find what he missed.

Hello,

Sorry that Fluffy is having recurrent prolapses.
When you take her in to the vet, what do they do? I think for this, it will need to be surgically repaired. They can sew the torn or weakened tissue area to the lining of the stomach or wall of the coelomic cavity. It just depends on where the best place would be.
How often do you give calcium?
Does she have trouble when she goes to the bathroom, like does she have to strain?

She has never laid eggs. She gets calcium with every other meal but lately I have upped that. The vet said that he could put a stitch in but once it was removed she would go back to the same problem.

I should add that she has lost 11 grams in less than 5 weeks ( the last time she was at the vet ). In June 08 she weighed 403 grams and today she was 335 grams. She is still eating so I am not sure of this has anything to do with her prolapse or not.

The vet told us to continue to weigh her and if she loses much more weight he wants to do some blood work to make sure her kidneys and whatnot are okay.
