So we got Sasha about a 1.5 months ago. She was Tini tiny like 3-4 inches, she has grown to about, let's say 10 or 11 inches since then. She has shed 4-5 times. She is eating about 25-40 crickets each day. Poop is normal brownish, greyish and bright white urate. She has a cool side of 75 and her basking site is a hammock and a fake branch thing, temp is 105-110. It's a zoomed 75 watt bulb in a deepdom zoomed fixture. She has a repti-sun 10.0 full spectrum uvb tube which sits above the mesh hood. It's a zoomed 20 gallon Viv. I food process her veg which she gets daily, a mix of collards, endive and butternut squash. Sometimes spring mix without spinach or kale. Sometimes raddicio, maybe a little apple now and again. She doesn't eat much but she nibbles. I dust maybe 2-5 crickets with repti-cal with d3 daily and herpavite every 2-3 days. I bath her daily or every other day as I've yet to see her drink. Her humidity usually sits around 45-50 I know that's a little high, but it's near impossible to fix as we live in a high humidity area and in a basement suite ( plus I've heard babies can do better with a slightly higher humidity). She sleeps 10-12 hours each night (In a bed which I made her from memory foam and a flannel blanket and pillow) she has an incandescent great choice night time bulb which gives off a slight purple hue but doesn't seem to
Disturb her, and keeps her night time temp at 72. She seems to sleep quite well. I gutload her crickets (tell me if this is too much with the dusting as well) with zoomed juvenile bearded dragon pellets, fish flakes, repti-cal, herpavite and collards, butternut and endive. The crickets usually have this mixture in with them. 3 days ago she shed her body, I helped with a bath and the shed came off easily. ( she also now has what looks like a shed starting just on the very tip of her nose, and she's bulged her eyes once or twice and is scratching her face, I noticed this bit after her body shed)Then she began acting odd. She pooped twice that day, normal poop ( as far as I can tell) she ate 30-35 crickets. But she kept blinking or closing her eyes while basking. Then the next day she woke up, and started trying to get out of the Viv. She doesn't normally do this so I took her out, she ran about, played with me...seemed fine but then in her Viv it was back to blinking. She ate 25-30 crickets. Pooped twice. This is when
I tried to figure out what was going on. So eventually I pulled out her fake log and banged it about and out came 25 crickets!!! Horrible!! I felt awful and I though ah ha that must have been stressing her out. So I cleaned it and the Viv and put her to bed. Then today before I went to work I noticed her laying there and blinking again, closing her eyes, keeping them closed a little longer then usual. She only would eat about 10 crickets. So as disgusting as it sounds I decapitated 6 and put them in with her veg. She had an big poop, maybe a little grayer then usual but maybe I'm just paranoid, and maybe a little yellow beside the bright white urate. I went to work and when I came home she had eaten 5 crickets, which means she came down from her hammock to find them, so she was out and about. Anyways I'm stressed and worried for my girl. Can't get into the herp vet until maybe Wednesday. Can anyone offer any advice? Oh and the people above us are pretty loud, they have a dog who howls a great deal when they
Leave in the morning for about 20 mins. But she had been fine and we have a dog who is quite interested in her but I keep them in separate rooms when I'm out and they dog seem to bother each other...and she's been doing amazing up to this point...I'm so worried. I love her with all my heart and I want to see her thrive, that is why I am writing this in such detail. I hope someone will take the time to read it and offer any advice. What am I doing wrong?

After all this I think I may have nailed it...after a bit more research and the help of a friendly dragon breeder is Australia I've concluded that not only could it be stress from the crickets accidentally :( left in the Viv but that crickets go for the eyes of the bearded dragon because of the moisture...ugh I feel horrible...poor girl...lesson learned...no more craptastic hollow log...here we were thinking we were getting any left over crickets out before bed :( saline solution it is then...

Some people use a feeder tank so they don't have to search for crickets. Hope she gets to feeling better soon!

Got some saline solution and dropped a few droplets in her eyes. She's not blinking today :) she has eaten at least 20 crickets. Pooped, bathed and feeling much better! Thanks for your reply! We've been making sure she eats every cricket we put in! Won't let this happen ever again!

Hello,

I am happy to hear you figured out the problems. :D
The crickets are a major problem & can cause extensive damage to them, too. Do you see any injuries on her?
I highly recommend feeding her outside of the tank though, it is so much easier.
I am glad she isn't blinking anymore, either. You can keep using the saline solution if needed also.
How close is your Reptisun 10 tube bulb to her?

Hey,
Yea god knows I wouldn't have had em in there with her had I know. She's a stress bag and won't eat in a critter keeper or the like, been like that since day one. The repti-sun is on the mess bout 6-10 inches away I'd say...basking bulb about the same. Going to be making her a new cage soon though. How far should the bulbs be away? And how close is too close would you say? I mean zoomed has it's recommendations but who can trust the same company that sells a bearded 29 gallon starter kit with calci sand, a coil bulb, a red infared night time light and a 100watt day time bulb...ugh....it infuriates me. Haha thanks for the reply. She's still been a little squinty...but no visible wounds. Just squinty...I'm think that may just be Sasha, she only does it when she basks.

Hello,

I am glad she is doing a lot better now.
The Reptisun 10 tube bulb shouldn't be any closer than 6 inches really but in a range of 6-8 or a max of 10 inches for best results on UVB exposure. Be sure it is directly beside the basking light also, to help protect her eyes.
At least she didn't have any bites on her!

Let us know how things are going.

When I feed Aina, I take everything out of her viv and usually clean everything at the same time. For Watson I feed him in an empty tank. Hope she feels better soon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
