Hello,
so yesterday I came in to check on my little pal ZooMA and I looked at him and he was really dark on his head mostly. So I panicked and google that and it came up that I haven't been using my uvb light and basking him enough so I did that. And he seemed to get a little bit lighter and then he kinda got dark again. That's one problem
And the other is that he has been sleeping pretty much all day for the past couple of days and has not been eating. The temps in his cage right now are 100 f and 85 on the cool side.i have a hand full of bulbs daytime blue, uva, basking, and night light I don't know which to use and by food I have mealworms and crickets I have been offering to him which he has not been eating for the past 4 or 5 days.
I have heard he could be hybranating but if so how long and why is he not eating. And why is his head (not beard) turning darker.
I have had ZooMA for around two weeks he is a baby and he is judging getting over shedding.
I am very worried about my bud any kind of response would help
Thank you

daytime blue ... a colored bulb , it should go in the rubbish, it's worthless for beardies.
night light .... no lights needed at night for beardies.

Refer to caresheet for recommended lighting for beardies.

Beardies should not be allowed to brumate in their first 12 months of life. Keep the baby's tank nice and warm day and night , maintain a good long day cycle , basking light and UVA and UVB lights on at least 14hr per day.
Do NOT let the tank get colder than about 24oC at night for a baby beardie. MUST KEEP baby beardies warm 24 hr/day.

ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL : high intensity UV globe or tube that produces BOTH at least 10% UVB and UVA.

Babies need feeding live insects at least 2x per day, as many as they'll eat in about 15 minutes each time and need to be offered veg and salad grated or chopped to a size suitable for them to eat daily (first thing each day).
Best to feed the baby / hatchling / juvi it's live insects in a separate feeding tub so any insects it misses can't hide to come out to disturb their sleep at night.

Mealworms are not a good staple live food item, can use them as treats , I find lizards love the worms , the pupae and the beetles , and I suspect the pupae and beetles are better for the lizards than the worms are.
Crickets should be gut loaded for 24 hr prior to being used (I feed my crickets carrot, buk choy greens and beardie pellets (originally bought these for the beardies but they were not crazy about them, found the crickets , mealworms and superworms love beardie pellets).
Dust the crickets prior to giving to the beardie with P free Ca powder ( I put about 1/2 tsp of Ca into a little round tub (from a Chinese takeaway) and then add the crickets and a bit of a shake and I've dusty crickets who then go to the lizards).

I'm trying Calci-Gents with two 5 week old hatchies I'm buying in a day or two. I used silkworms for Puff and Rex when were little and rapidly growing , they both loved their silkworms lavae and moths.

Hi there....sorry to hear that little Zooma is not well. :( One very important question, did he eat any mealworms before he got to this point ? If so, that may be the problem....babies eat them and then can't digest them and become impacted. Try giving him some baby food prunes, squash ans applesauce with a drop of veg.oil or raw honey in it. These are natural laxatives. also offer water via syringe or eyedropper and/or give a warm bath in a small plastic container [ water half way up his body ] for about 5 minutes to see if he'll poo. Stay with him while he's in the water to be sure he doesn't slump down + drown.

It will be helpful to post pics of him as well as his tank, here's how :

No,
He has only been eating crickets but I figured to try him on some mealworms to see if he would eat those. I also got him super worm but did not give him any because I read it's hard for baby's to digest them

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
