We all know the story we see that little beardie in the pet store while buying our other guys some wormy treats...and then we see the "one" the little guy who looks like he's getting beat up. They dont have the right food in there and he's half the size of the others...we think we're gonna save him bring him home and well he was a lot more "under the weather" than we thought.

Where he was living...Petco
He was being fed squash(no problem there right...wrong) it was cut up the size I feed my one year old this little guys head is no bigger than a dime...also he was being offered one inch mealworms which are basically worthless to begin with in my opinion. Also he was under one single flourescent light of unknown quality.

Now he is in a 20gallon long tank, with a 18" reptisun 10.0 and a 75w basking light. His hot temps are 103 hot side and 80 on cool side being read with a probe thermometer. I have been trying squash and chicken stage one babyfood with water and calcium mixed in. And here's for the shocker this little guy is 5in and weighs only 3 grams! yes 3. he has been going back and forth between 3 and 4. I have extra small reptiworms on the way and he just doesn't seem strong enough to catch crix and I think he's afraid of them. Ive been giving him baths twice a day to try and keep him hydrated.

basically all i'm asking for is any advice you can give me I want this guy to live im extremely attached already everytime I went to the store he would sit at the glass and follow me...As crazy as it sounds it seems like it was ment to be

Hi i think you are doing everything right so far. I would try and bath him in shallow warm water he looks dehydrated. Carry on with the baby foods and calcium. Even if he is not interested in crickets just yet he may be when his strenghth comes back from all the speacial care your giving him .. I have a really poorly impacted little girl i rescued 3 days ago and she had no strength what so ever could not even move, i have been syringe feeding her stewed apple butternut squash ,sweet potatoe calcium and vits mixed to smooth paste with water.She has actually gained a little strenghth and gone to the toilet a little. Keep up all your good work i am sure she will pick up in a few more weeks..

Thanks it makes me feel better that someone besides me thinks im doing the right thing...i know he is deff dehydrated to im giving him baths whenever i can the poor guy is so skinny it breaks my heart. I feel like im gonna break him too he's so fragile...

As long as you keep him hydrated and get food in him, he should be ok. Try putting some small crickets in the fridge for 5 minutes or so, it will slow them down and maybe he can eat them then. I wouldn't let him have too many though, it could be a shock to his system.

I've already tried that and he refuses them...he really refuses anything so he's getting a little babyfood every couple hours

Have you tried feeding him a couple wax worms?

I haven't tried waxworms just because they are so big compared to my little guy I think a whole worm is almost as big as his abdomen...this guy is TINY i cant get over it lol the reptimworms will be here wed hopefully until then babyfood and baths, alot of them.

I should mention that he has pooped today while in the bath, he's so dehydrated i let him soak while in his cage i have a small dish he sits in like a jaccuzzi, well i put him in there like that so his vent is in. the only time he moves is when he gets hot, When i wake up and turn his lights on if i dont physically move him towards them he'll lay in the same spot all day.

What a sweet little guy!!!! Keep doing what you're doing, maybe offer the baby food 2-3 times per day. I would also try waxworms, just a few. They soud be fine or him because they're so soft, maybe if he sees them wiggling it will jumpstart his appetite. The reptiworms will be great for him. Keep us updated!!!

Here's an update i'm slightly OCD about certain things so i've been keeping very detailed records lol he's still 3 grams (same as the beginning) his belly has been completely sunken into his back, like paper thin but today i've noticed that its starting to fill out just a little bit but some what noticable, his eyes are slowly becoming not so sunken in. he pooped twice today both very little but still really doesn't have an appetite i'll try wax worms tomorrow maybe he'll eat em. if nothing else doing these updates will let me keep track of everything...

If he is going to the bathroom regularly and you can keep food in him, I say you are on the right track. Try to keep him as stress free as possible. Keep on with the feedings, even if he doesn't want it. If he doesnt start to gain weight after a few weeks or improve overall, consider taking him to a vet as he may have worms. Seeing the conditions at my local petco, it wouldnt surprise me. Worms will eat away at the dragons food not leaving much for it self. How are the poops looking?

It might not be a bad idea to try a little pedialight(sp?) or even gatorade from a dropper. Bathing a baby that dehydrated isn't going to be enough, he needs internal hydration.

I agree with Gail maybe try to feed him some pedialyte. Keep up the baby food and just be persistant. He is going poop
so that is a good sign that you are getting at least a little nutrition in him. Hopefully the waxies will get his attention
and get him wanting to eat.
we had to mix the chicken baby food with sweet potatoe baby food to get ash to eat when we got her because she was
so small and malnurished. just a suggestion maybe if you mix 2 flavors together the smell or taste on his nose will peak
his interest.

i tryed the pedyalite and babyfood and everything but this morning i found him deceased. When i took him back to the store they had the nerve to tell me I did not know how to take of him and almost did not give me my money back for their mistake! its appauling. At least I know i have him the best chance for the last few days he lived, he is in a better place now. R.I.P. little guy you were so cute
