So, Ive had my juvie bearded dragon almost a month now. I have been experimenting with feeding. He really likes the crickets and some veggies. Yesterday I picked up some Superworms to give them a shot. I placed 5 inch and half worms in the dish and he took to them quickly. I noticed last night that he seemed to be real slow (not self) and kind of droopy? Today he hasnt moved much and once in a while I will notice that his hind legs are a little shaky? Im a little worried? Has anyone ever experienced this? He is now about 7inches from nose to end of tail, was it to early to feed him the Superworms? Thanks! :?

I think meal and super worms are generally a bad idea for young/small bearded dragons. The hard shells can get stuck in the kink in young dragons' intestines. I would give him some baths to try to relieve the problem, but aside from that, I don't know, maybe someone else can advise. I feed my guy super worms and large chunks of shell come out the other end. Large as in about 4mm squared, which is nothing for him, but maybe be a bit too much for a juvie that is only 7 inches total length.

Yes, he is too little for superworms that size. Its possible he is partial impacted, has he used the bathroom at all today? Low calcium can also cause leg twitching. What kind of UVB do you use and are you providing calcium supplements?

No, he/Im not sure of the sex, has not gone potty yet? UVB- Dessert Series 50, double 50UVB Fluorescent bulbs/9"compact. 100w heat lamp in a Size 20L tank. As far as calcium, only sprinkled crickets. Is there anothr form of calcium you can suggest, or other feeding tecniques? This is my 1st bearded dragon and Id like to raise it the best I can!

The twitching is most likely caused by a calcium deficiency. The UVB bulbs you have are no good and without proper UVB they can't process the calcium you give. Please try to get a reptiSUN 10.0, the best place to buy in online at petmountain.com. You want the tube type, not a compact. What are your temps running and how are you measuring?
Here is a great caresheet, follow it and you'll have a happy dragon. http://beardeddragoncaresheet.weebly.com/index.html
Of course he needs to go poo asap, try giving a warm bath and gently rubbing his tummy. You can also give him a couple drops of olive oil to help things pass.

Thanks for the help Gail and everybody! Im using zilla temp gauge's. The basking side stays between 100-105 with humiditiy at 25%. On the cooler side temp stays about 75-80.
Why do these pet stores sell you garbage lighting for such a high price? If the ****s not right, Id just assume purchase the right light for the same price..... Thanks all

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
