Hi there,

I just adopted Lizzie two weeks ago. She is 2 years old. Before she came to me she had no lights or heat lamp, wasn't really eating or pooping, didn't move much, and she was underweight. She didn't really get any vegetables or vitamins. Over the past two weeks she has been eating and pooping more and more. Her energy seems better, although she spends a lot of time sleeping under her log and when she's let out she only walks around a little bit, mostly just stands there (not sure if this is normal). She's gained back lots of weight and is now a healthy weight. She poops almost every day now.

This morning she was in the bath and she pooped... it was not well formed (her last few poops haven't been) and there were several pieces of... thick plastic bag??? in her poop! Big pieces! around the size of a nickel. Some plastic was still sticking out of her vent... I pulled it out. There was more sticking out but before I could get it she, um, sucked it back up into her. lol.

It seems this plastic has been in her for a long time. Probably since before I got her. It seems brittle and faded, like her body tried hard to digest it for a while. I can't imagine where she could have come across plastic in our house, and I'm always watching her carefully.

What should I do?????? :(

Hi there.....must have been very shocking to see ! There have been a few threads about beardies eating and passing foreign objects, including one that ate + passed a sandwich bag. That bea came out 3-4 weeks after it was eaten and the beardie was fine. :) Hopefully Lizzie will also pass this through, and it sounds like she is doing just that. You can probably just feed her as normal and the rest will come out.

Thanks guys! She seems a lot happier now that the plastic is out (or at least some of it). She was a lot more active today, running around the house and outside and I even had to chase her into the bushes. She's never run off like that before. I guess it's time to make her a leash!

How lucky she is to have you! I just want to caution you to be careful when pulling pieces of plastic out. If the plastic shows any resistance at all, I would quit pulling. It will come out in its own time, and in case there is any entanglement with her innards it would be better to wait. Let us know how she does.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
