Hello,
I just built my 4x2x2 and am now bothered by how big and lonely it looks.
I would love to put some plants in there and I printed out a list of plants that have been proven safe around beardies (which is almost everything! )
BUT I know nothing about this type of stuff.
So here is my list of questions if you happen to know anything about this it'd be awesome:
-I'm assuming that it is okay to have potting soil around the beardies?
-Do I need to keep my plants near the UVB OR can I have them under my regular light (fixture on the left) and have them grow successfully (P.S. I'm pushing for this one)?
-Do I keep the plants away from my basking light?
-What plants do you think will survive the best?
-What are some animal safe chemicals that I can put on my plants to make them healthier?
-Should I put earthworms in my soil or do you think that will be dumb (I like putting them in for some reason)?
I know the cords aren't too pretty and it looks lonely in there, but I am trying to make it funner before attempting to hide the cords since I may need to move the lights.
Also, do you know if 36" ReptiSun lights emit down to 12" or 24"? Because if it is 24" I'd like to raise them a bit to get them out of the way. Plus that 2nd fluorescent tubing back there is going to be taken out and put into my second cage which will be under it whenever it's built. So permanently there will only be those 3 lights in there-the 2 single fixtures and 1 tubing.
We are talking about building a small shelf under those large square side vent for the plants so that we aren't taking up any of her floor space. Do you think that's a good idea?
I think this would be very cool if I could just figure out which lights the plants need to be under/near.
