Place for digging?

I wanted to get an aluminum pan (like for cooking) and fill it about half-way with alfalfa pellets to put into the tank so the beardie can dig and just relax in them. The pan makes it less likely to fling all over the place and I can easily take it out when he's done.

Are there any alternatives for digging? I feel as though he really wants to dig sometimes and I read that the alfalfa pellets were good because they CAN be eaten with little harm if your beardie even cares for it.

Also, where do you get alfalfa pellets? I've only been able to find the kind that has seeds in them and I definitely don't want that.

If you have any alternatives just let me know your experience with it because I'm still looking.

I've never used a dig box or anything I just have slate tile as my substrate.
Seen a few people put some dig boxes in there vivarium before thought think they used playsand. I personally don't want anything loose like that.

I think I've seen it as substrate for land tortoises at the reptile store and is it the same as rabbit food too maybe I don't know.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
