So yes I do use some vita-sand in small area of our enclosures. Our beardies are all grown and are fed in a separate tank and they seem to confine their poop to the sand so it really makes it less messy for me! So a week ago I bought the orange color of Vita-sand because I thought it would brighten things up a bit... Boy did it brighten things up!! It turned my beardies peachish pinkish orange... even my sandfire pastel who is usually almost white. Bath after bath and it only faded slightly. So I threw the crap out and put newspaper down. Went to the Pet Store where I spend an average of $5K a yr on all our pets to not support chain stores. Guess what they said? "Oh yeah well people like that!" What? People want to stain/dye their beardies an unatural peach color so they can pretend that their normy is a red phase or something? Is this true? I am going to talk to the owner tomorrow because I had to throw $20 out in the trash. I figure if they knew it did this that's even more reason they should credit me for it. I just can't imagine that someone would actually buy it just so it would give them a false color.
