Pin Worms??????????

Hello,

I have a question I just brought my year old and 3 month old bearded dragon into the vet because she was not acting her self. I just got a call back from the vet because i sent in a stool sample in. And he just got the test results back. he told me she has Pin worm, how bad is that and what else do i need to look out for this is the first time I have ha this happened and He put in a order for medication for me. I just want to make sure that the pin worms will not kill her. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinworms are pretty common and if they are at low levels they are often left without treatment. Healthy dragons can usually manage them well. If the levels are elevated, and it sounds like that's the case based on your vet's response, they can be wiped out relatively easily with a couple of Panacur doses.

On your part, just be sure to sanitize surfaces really well. Having a bottle of F10SC or a small steam cleaner is helpful. Keep everything as clean as you can to help prevent re-infection and it shouldn't cause much issue.

what should I use to clean her cage was so she doesn't get reinfected because what you're telling me is I have no clue what that is

F10SC is a disinfectant that you mix with water in a spray bottle. It's good for safely sanitizing all surfaces in the tank. http://beanfarm.com/product_info.php?products_id=6061

A steam cleaner works the same way but just uses heat. This is similar to the one I have https://www.amazon.com/Handheld-Steam-Cleaner/dp/B003TJ4T8S

I spot clean areas using vinegar and water and a rag/paper towel first. That works well to get all of the solid bits up. Then the steam or F10 disinfects.
