Is the sand really that bad? Cuz i like the whole real look of it...the ceramic or like astro turf or whatever that stuff is ppl use is so lame looking haha

If its regular playsand and if you dont feed him in that enclosure then its ok because he isnt really a baby any more but if your using reptisand or calcisand of any kind then yes its pretty bad stuff and I would remove it ASAP.

Alright, so agenda for tomorrow....reptisun 10.0 tube, remove sand and make sure is play sand!
Last question I swear, does play sand actually say play sand on the package? All i've ever seen is calci/vita sand!

I'm hoping these things will kick him back into typcial godzilla behaviour..haha

The play sand does say play sand, but it isnt at the pet stores. I have seen it at Lowes, Hope Depot and I believe Toy's R Us.

Yes you wont find playsand in the pet store.Generally you will find it at places like home depot,walmart,lowes.Just make sure it says non-silica childrens play sand(fine and sifted).

Alright..here's the news!

So I got the tube uvb light...went to 3 different pet stores and non of them carried the repitSun...so I had to settle for a reptiGlo temporarily till I find a the reptiSun.

Also went to 2 Rona stores and 3 home depots non of which had play sand...at least not non-silica play sand. So the search continues tomorrow....

Got some mealworms...and he downed 5 like a champion...I assume the light is making him feel better!

Should he eat that many worms at once?

I am happy to hear he is feeling better.The reptiglo was it an 8.0 or 10.0?
If its a 10.0 which I assume it is since you really cant find the 8.0 be careful with it,its not a great bulb.Its better then the coils but be sure to keep your basking distance 10 inches away from it and make sure you have a bright white light beside it.I would order te reptisun online its much cheaper that way(about 1/2 the price).

Edit: Just saw the mealworms post.Not a great idea to feed him too many as a staple.They are not good nutrition and can impact.How long is he again?

Well I'm going out to buy it tomorrow...but I have to ask...once I have it do I still need to keep the basking light 10" away? and if so when you say 10" you mean that the uvb light shouldn't be hitting anywhere in the tank within 10" .....that might be a little hard due to the fact its only a 40g tank and the uvb fixture I got is for 18" bulbs

I'd say he's probably about 8-10" including his tail I'd measure him exact right now but he's sleeping...and god knows I don't like getting woken up to be measured...hahaha...

Yup thats the one.The 10 inch rule was only for the reptiGLO and I meant keep the distance of 10 inches between the beardie and the UVB bulb to avoid health issues.When using the reptiSUN you want a distance of 6-8 inches.

Nice thanks dude..either way I think even the reptiGlo is making a difference...he still isn't into his crickets when I put him in the cricket tank (20g) he just sits there and doesn't eat them...but he'll learn that's the way its gonna happen hahaha...

He is definitely more active for sure...running back and forth at the front of the tank..although he is head butting the glass...with his nose..and his nose is getting worn down a little..which i'm not a fan of at all

Well Dudette, temps are good actually cool side is about 75 - 80 basking side depending on where Godzilla actually sits is anywhere from 90 - 105

He's definitely doing better...still won't eat crickets but not as aggressive!

Great and your using a temp gun or a probe thermometer for that right?

Two probe thermometers actually...one that stays neatly hidden in the tank on the cool side and then the hot side I just check it once and awhile.

I also have to wait till mid to end of next week for my reptiSun ordered it but that's the soonest it arrives.

While you're still in my clutches...he's still no eating crickets...he'll eat mealworms I give him but then again those are healthy enough for a full time basis. I put him in the 20g cricket tank with at least 100 crickets running around all over the place and he just sits there..and eventually starts nose smashing the glass and trying to climb out of this tank....any tips on getting him to eat the damn crickets?
