One day while holding Toa and prepping his dinner he decided he didn't want to wait for me to put him in his viv to eat. He jumped off my shoulder and started chowing down!
We now have a bath time routine where after 10 minutes or so I lower a towel so he can jump and climb up it to get out of the tub. He looks pretty happy with himself...
Toa had his first vet visit today. He got a clean bill of health! He said everything looked great and he seemed impressed with my set up and husbandry- Thanks everyone for the great advice!
Here he is in his carrier (he is still a bit scared of outside and doesn't have a harness yet.) Have to fold his tail up to fit him in. Sorry for the blown out picture
Took Toa to the farmers market today. He seemed to enjoy it... Well at least he didn't hate it. We got a lot of attention, he was also called an iguana and a gecko. Lol. There were a lot of people who had dragons and asked how he got so big! A lot of "what do you feed him!?!" So I told them and then a few asked if I fed him pinkys. I said no and smiled. Here is a decent picture of him in the harness my hubby made.
It was taken with my front camera bc I was too embarrassed to take a full fledged selfie. 8)
Man time flies! Sir Toa is now 10 months old and 21.5". He seems to be slowing down as far as growth, he hasn't shed in a while. But, we're still trying new things and exploring.
Here he is doing some couch cruising.
And then we met one of the cats today.
And closer...
And we have contact!
I had a mini heart attack for a second. Both the husband and I were right there but still held my breath. She just sniffed him and he didn't react at all. Then she just sat down. So proud of both of them.
Next weekend we are going to reptile day at Petco. That should be fun.
Not so much thinks flying over his head (including my husband), but now he just puffs up instead of trying to run away.
We had another incident with the hammock.
Finally got command hooks an he still manages to knock it down.
Came in to check on him before bed and it took me a few seconds to find him.
He's in the back corner of the cool side squeezed in under his branch.
Quite adorable.
He was cruising the bed checking out my husbands new shirt.
And lastly flexin his muscles.
So, he has cut way back on eating and is sleeping a lot more. I'm pretty sure he is brumating even though he is only about 10.5 months old. He eats some greens and a few supers but has more or less ignored his reptis. He will still come out and explore a bit but is a lot less active. Still a love bug though!
I just got done reading through all of this thread, and I am absolutely in love with Toa!!!! He's so majestic and handsome. You and your husband have done an amazing job raising him, keep up the great work.
Awe thank you! I love that little booger. I'm glad you enjoyed the album. I like looking back and seeing how much he's grown, it's amazing how much bigger he has gotten in the 6 months I've had him.
