So Toa or toes-magoes as he is most often called has been trying new eating positions as of late.

Here we have the squish and eat:

And here we have the over the branch:

Which worked until he face planted while reaching for a dubia.

He has also been testing the integrity of his branch.

It's about half as wide as he is now. Another thing to add to the upgrade list.

After a filling dinner he decided to let his gut hang loose.

Today I was letting him roam before dinner. Apparently he was hungry. Jumped up here, it's about about 24" off the ground with a 6" or so platform he used for a little boost. He tried to get a few supers through the plastic. I took the hint. Lol.

Toes is now about 7.5 months and about 20.5" (as of a few days ago)!! :D
Thanks for checking him out!

It must be the roids!! Lol. I've actually cut back a bit on the bugs and upped the veg. He was doing about ten each of supers, med dubia, and large reptis for dinner and ten reptis and veg for breakfast. He would keep eating of I put more in. He just stares at me like where's the rest?!? Little piggy!

I'm not sure if I'm feeding too much, but I've read that they won't over eat. I've never given him a whole 10-15 minutes to eat. I think he would eat me out of house and home if I let him!

I could be very wrong, but from what I as told was that beardies could over eat because they eat as much as they can because they never now when their next meal will be. Gluttons.

That was my general assumption with most wild(ish)/ recently domesticated animals. But thought I read otherwise. Who knows. Either way I'm sure Toa would eat everything I put in front of his cute face!

I guess I'm lucky that he is not picky. He will eat just about any bug that's put in front of his face. He is a little picky about veggies... no bell peppers, nopales, or any fruits (as of yet), but he loves collards, dandelion greens, and squash. :)

So we had a couple of firsts since our last entry.

We had our first time in the big bath tub.

He seemed a little unsure at first but I think he liked it. Until he realized that he couldn't jump out! But he did look rather cute trying to climb the wall, plus it was good exercise!

A few weeks ago we decided it would be fun for him to have a little sandbox for him to chill in outside. We found one of those children's turtle sandboxes at the Salvation Army for like $5, bought a bag of playground sand, and a pot to use as a hide. The weather was beautiful today so we figured it would be the perfect time to try it out. Finally got everything set up... Couldn't find the pot for his hide. So we quickly strung up some screen material for a little bit of shade.

Of course he was a little apprehensive at first.

And kept an eye on the sky.

It seemed like he was settling in nicely and finally getting used to it.

Well, about 5 minutes after that picture was taken a crow flew overhead. :angry5: He puffs, turns black, and bolts. I was hot on his tail as he ducked under the rhubarb. I was about to grab him as my husband opens the back door to the patio where we were. Toa sees this and bolt for the door, I yell incoming just as he crosses the thresh hold into the house where the husband grabs him. The two cats and dog were looking around like what the...?
Since he was inside and safe, I just started laughing!

I'm just glad he knew the house was the safe place and not the mess of grapes that are invading from the neighbors yard!

He is currently relaxing in his viv, eyeballing the ceiling, and slowly lightening back up. I think he gets a few extra dubia for dinner!

Bonus Toa enjoying the sun.

I know! Trust me I wasn't laughing until he was safe and back home. So glad he ran into the house. But the image of him running across the patio all puffed up, his tail in the air, it was pretty cute.
We were just talking about how to fully secure it too. Will have to come up with something before his next try.

Your little guy is too cute! I wish my bruno liked the bath...he puffs up like a balloon and floats until I put my hand in, then he clings for dear life! Lol!

Well, he just continues to grow! Lol. He's now 8 and a half (ish) months old and 21 inches! I was out of town on business for a week and I swear he looks so much older and filled out. Luckily all went well and my husband and parents stepped up to make sure he was kept on schedule. My mom even fed him dubia and supers, she was scared of both and just kind of cringed when I was showing her everything.

So, I had some family in town a few weeks ago and my niece was obsessed with Toa and his food. She wanted to hold the supers and dubia, she settled for petting a few reptiworms. She also wanted me to feed him constantly  so Toa got all excited when she would walk in the room. Here she is watching feeding time.

Toa has figured out that if he can reach the towel that is over the side of the tub he can jump out when he wants to...

He can then climb down me and run around the bathroom.

Unless he gets behind the toilet then it's back in the bath!

One of his less comfortable looking sleeping positions:

And finally here he is last Saturday after I came home.

He jumped off me and onto the computer chair. I have been letting him roam around more with me following close behind, since there are way too many places for him to wedge himself into, plus the cats and dog. He seems to be enjoying his new found freedom and on this weekends to do list is to organize his room (aka the office) so he can have a bit more freedom. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
