My couple of questions are can anyone take a guess at what breed he might be? I got him from my local petsmart, so its kinda hard to judge.

Also, when i've come home the past few days, even while he's been basking, he's been his spotted "angry" shade I would say, was wondering if there could be any particular reason why he does this or is it just natural?

Thanks for the replies!

If coming from Petsmart or other local pet store it is going to be a safe bet he is a Sandfire/normal, I have gotten and seen redish or orangish sandfires at my local petsmart too. Either way he is adorable, I love baby dragons.

How long have you had him? His dark shade may be due to relocation stress. Or, it may have to do with basking temps, what is his basking and how do you monitor that temperature?

I've had him for almost 4 days now, might be new but for the first few days he was happy as ever, so thats why i'm slightly wondering.

His diet consists mainly of crickets with kale, occationally some mealworms.

His basking spot goes between 90-95 degrees, I realize this might be a few degrees shy of recommended, but it was the best I could do with the setup I have. I was thinking of adding another just plain blue heat lamp to help regulate the temperature, not so much right on top or near his basking spot, but on the other side of the tank, its a 40 gal breeder.

If you add another light use a regular household bulb, vivid or natural light not soft white, best not to use colored bulbs for basking with bearded dragons. The optimal temperatures for a juvenile dragon are 105-110° F. I wouldn't feed any meal worms to your little guy either. Meal worms are great for geckos but, bearded dragons not. Younger dragons such as yours shouldn't eat anything from the meal worm family until they are at least 16 inches in length, at which I would only feed superworms (from the same meal worm genus). Meal worms especially in younger dragons can cause impaction, impaction is far more likely when temperatures are not optimal. There are mini mealworms, not to be confused with small mealworms, this is a different species of the mealworm family, they are tiny (mini  ) and stay mini, they are more easily digested too.

For a juvenile dragon it is mostly crickets, you can also feed small wax worms, silkworms, roach nymphs-small roaches (dubia, turkistan etc..) baby hornworms, small butter worms.

I got my little Beaux from Petsmart and she is gorgeous, sounds like what you were mentioning, the orangish sandfires. Maybe that is what she is?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
