Okay so it sounds like silkworms are the best but I have numerous questions including How Many Should Freddie Eat? He is A little under a year and a half and is almost 17 inches. Last How fast do silkworms grow and how big will they get when they are full grown? Do they come with food or must I buy it too? Do they smell? And do they eat eachother?

i too would like to know this.

What do silkworms morph in to?

What do phoenix worms morph in to? I was told they look like monster wasps.

I haven't bought any worms yet but from looking at the shops that sell them it seems that you must also order bedding and food. A couple of companies ship with some bedding and food but usually not enough to sustain them for long periods.

Phoenix worms morph into soldier flies, but you will know before they do because they become black and stiff (seem dead) while they are pupating. Also, you do not need to get any food or bedding for phoenix worms. You just keep them in the container they come in. The only "care" they may need is for you to add a little water to their container if their bedding becomes too dry.

Okay... You Didn't Answer MY Questions...

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, having never bought silkworms. I do know they need to be fed, but I don't know what or how much. Hopefully someone else on here with some experience will be able to answer for you.

Okay thanks. I am starting to think again about Hornworms because they are so much easier. But kinda expensive.

Here's a care sheet that should answer all of your silkworm questions:

By the way, I'm pretty sure that Dubias are not illegal in Canada. Check out the Canada forum. I'm sure someone can help you out.

Thanks! The only ones it did not answer is the smell and how much my beardie will eat. I guess all worms don't eat eachother.
And they are illegeal. I checked into it. It's because some invasive species bullcrap. They apparently could breed uncontroably and become a pest and wipe out several insect and plant species in months. Its bullcrap! :angry5:

Okay I am going to be not as specific and ask what costs more to buy and keep for a beardie, silks or horns? And which one smells worse?

To answer about silk worms, they get huge. As far as how many the dragon should eat, it's as much as it can during a feeding (seems people go with a ten min feeding rule, 2-3 times a day). Silk worms are easy to care for, but take some time to set up for breeding. They get large very fast, and from a hatched egg to a full 3 inch pillar, about a week and a half depending if they have enough to eat. The hatch time can take awhile, but they grow fast.

Thanks, but the person before you answered that.

I thought they were legal because some people in Canada, like http://www.geckoboysgeckos.com, sold them. Maybe they don't anymore.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
