Phoenix worms & Mealworms Question

Are they the same thing, cept the mealworms are dried up phoenix or the other way around? Can't remember what the pet store guy said.
I was buying Phoenix worms from a place in Florida..(they have free s&h) but time they got here (llinois) most of them were dead (black) and they wouldn't even refund me. I asked a pet store I go to alot about ordering the p worms, he told me that meal worms are the same thing, saying that either mealworms are the p worms before or the other way around. Please help...and how many times a day is a 7 mo old baby (yes he's still a little squirt (8 inches long) spose to be fed?

No.Phoenix Worms/Reptiworms are essentially Hermetia illucens (Black Soldier Fly larvae) and have no relation to tenebrio molitor (mealworm) whatsoever.

This is what a Phoenix Worm generally looks like.

As for the subject of feeding schedule,At his age I'd feed him as many PWs as he can eat in 15 minutes AT LEAST twice a day while leaving veggies,but eh.Someone might know better,so......

Ugh, I wouldn't put too much confidence in this petstores employees knoweldege anymore.

They are two completely different worms, I don't understand how they can be confused as being the same thing, as Terra above me posted.

ya thanks i won't anymore. I took the pworms container in to see if he could order them for me, then he told me that. Any reccomendations on where to buy ph worms. Or better yet how to keep them from turning black before he gets to the last tubs. I usually buy 6 at a time. Read they will die in fridge.

Phoenix Worms/Reptiworms can both be bought at their respective sites in bulk.

And to my knowledge,they can last at least a few months in the fridge.SUPER WORMS (Zoophobas Morio) will die if kept in the fridge,however.

Those sites are good.

You don't want to put them in the fridge, its too cold they will die.

However, if you put them in a wine cooler, you can keep them for quite some time that way. Wine coolers are not as cold as normal refrigerators.

I live in IL, too, and I always order from PhoenixWorms.com & have been 100% happy w/them. Also, I don't have a wine fridge, but I *do* have a basement, and I've kept PWs down there for as long as 6 weeks w/no problems.
