Phoenix Worms and Morning Diarrhea

Gleeok (going to be 3 months on 10/20) has been having at least one runny BM per day. I notice that this started a few days ago. He usually has two BMs per day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. It is always the first BM of the day. The other is solid formed and appears to be normal. I am very picky about the set up etc. I check the temps (basking is anywhere from 106-115) and humidity (25-30%) more than once a day (digital). He gets a bath usually 3 times per week and misted at least once a day. I offer him Phoenix worms in the morning in a dish, he typically eats about 30. He is offered crickets at least 3 times per day and has a great appetite. I try to make sure his last feeding is at least two hours before his lights turn off. I also offer him greens daily (dandelion greens and butternut squash). He picks at a few pieces of squash here and there but has not made the transition to eating his salad regularly.

I am curious if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts as to what may be causing the morning runny bm. I am wondering if the Phoenix worms are the issue since he eats them first thing or if I need to move his last feeding back an hour or two to give him more time to digest.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Have you taken him to the vet to get a fecal done? I had the same problem with Bandit and turns out that she has coccidia :( Otherwise, it might just be cause the worms are juicy and it's just making the stools wet because of extra hydration. Are you feeding any other feeders?

Hey thank you for the response. I just dropped off a fecal sample at the vet today for testing. Unfortunately I probably will not know anything until Wednesday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the sample comes back negative.

I am feeding him crickets as well. The Phoenix worms are available in a dish to him up until 2-3 hours before lights out. He is offered crickets (as many as he will eat) 3 times a day.

What do you mean exactly by runny bm? As in its like a little puddle of stool (sorry descriptive haha) or that there's just a lot of fluid around it? If its the second one, you're fine, its just excess water in thr body. Are you giving baths often and have the proper set up? I wish you luck! There's nothing worse than force feeding meds. She scrapped me twice with her teeth since I'd rather use myself as her chew object rather than plastic.

Thank you. No worries haha on the description. He gets a bath at least 3 times a week. The runny stool is not formed. A messy pile. As far as the set up I am pretty picky. Haha. I'm always checking temps, basking ranges from 105-115. cool side is 80-83. I have digital thermometers as well as a digital hygrometer for measurement. 40 gallon breeder, tile substrate, 24 inch zoo med Reptisun 10.0.

Hmm.. Odd. Well best of luck and hopefully it's not parasites. Maybe it's an odd coincidence with the PW? Have you tried giving them in the evening and a harder feeder in the day?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
