Just ordered a batch of Phoenix worms from the Phoenix Worm Store online. Just wondered if they'll ship from GA to MA with the temps. Guess I won't know til Monday. Any input on how many to feed 6mo old 8 in from nose to tail Beardie when they arrive. He has been eating 15-20(I lose count it goes so fast) crickets a day. maybe 2 bites of collard greens. He ate nothing yesterday and 6 this AM and one waxworm. The product reviews seemed positive. Mostly just looking for input on how to keep them and how many to feed. Thanks!

They will ship them in these temps. I usually leave them in a bowl all day for feeding. I would put 15 in a bowl and see how your beardie takes to them. They don't bite so you don't have to worry about leaving them in the viv. And you need to keep them at 55 degrees. I keep mine in my basement. Have you tried dubias at all? Most beardies love them!

Thanks for your response. I'm out on Cape Cod. Very limited for stores. Have only had Silver for a week. He's sleeping on my chest while I post. Trying to get a handle on the feeding protocol. Just rec'd confirmation that they intend to ship tomorrow. The local store has waxworms ( I know fatty occasional treat) and superworms (too big for him right?). Had to take his whole tank apart today for a quick cricket. Any tips on anything would be appreciated. Thanks!

As for dubious....he's only 8 inches nose to tail. I thought those were for full grown dragons. Best site to order from?

Tip: Breed dubia!!! :)

I use superworms for mine, but they are bigger and older. You can you small supers those are fine too. I have used butterworms, hornworms, phoenix/reptiworms, dubia and supers. Supers and dubia have the best shelf life. Butterworms are good to, but can be expensive. Same with Hornworms, and horns don't have a long shelf life.

So have you eliminated crickets? I use small crickets for anoles. Much easier to manage. What size is appropriate for worms or roaches? 3/4 inch? I went with Medium Phoenix worms with an intro pack of large. it was hard to decide.

P.S. Silver looks just like your picture of Ember in the cat water bowl! Thanks for your responses!

I don't use crickets at all. I did a couple times, but they were such a pain, I hated chasing them out of the cage when they didn't get eaten, they died too quick and smelled bad. I just use only dubia and supers, and I just have some horworms now. I just ordered 1,000 reptiworms but Butters is the only one that likes those.

I would do the 3/4" roaches and small supers. Do you have a picture you can post of your baby?

I have pics on my IPad but have not had time to figure out how to get them into Photobucket. I look forward to getting the worms because of the cricket escapees. Even though the store has them as Medium, they seem pretty big. My husband found a dusted one hopping around the bathroom. Can't believe it made it past the cats. Was considering ordering a variety snack pack from Mulberry Farms. Do the Dubias stay in a dish? Tried taking Silver out to feed him in a separate plastic bin but he seemed annoyed and didn't eat that day. Still trying to work out the kinks.

Just an imput since you mentioned Mulberry Farms, you should get some silwkworms! They can be fed to them everyday, are very good for them and mine really seem to like them, you should give them a try :) They can get out of the dish, but they usually don't make it too long, they get gobbled up with my beardies.

Yes silkworms are great, except they are very costly if you are going to use them for a staple. :(

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate the input. Measured Silver after his bath. Fast asleep and totally pancaked out, he is 9 1/2 inches nose to tale. Does that change the amount to feed? Phoenix worms will be here Wednesday. Can't wait. He ate 16 dusted crickets today...4 in the AM and 12 tonight.Tired of crippling them with a fingernail so they stay in the dish but wiggle. I want to try all these different feeders. Even though it's warm out...what should I expect for a survival rate on the worms?

True, I use them, not as main staple and 200 lasted only about two weeks... >> Zuri goes nuts for them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
