Have any of you been using Pets at home for your Crickets/Locusts?

Just wondering how you have been getting on, Leo has just came out of Brumation and has started eating quite
well already, i can either take a 10min walk/5min drive to my local Pets at home or travel 20-40miles depending on the pet shop to buy his live foods from my usual supplier.

Ive been to pets at home twice now and i must say i was impressed with the live food, they are keeping them well hydrated and not one dead cricket or locust so thumbs upto them for that, the counter assistant was saying though that they are getting the set up to sell Bearded dragons and Gecko's.......... this is worrying
as i think this will be the same carryon alot of you are having with Petco??? and im sure i will have alot of arguments with them although im goin to keep getting my live stock and get to know as many staff as possible so i can help them when they get Beardies and Gecko's in..

I always get my livefood from livefood.co.uk. They have their own farm and i never receive dead ones.

Ive bought from Livefoods before but Leo was sick roughly 3 times over 2-3 days after eating the crickets,
may just have been a bad batch but its easier for me to buy local

Yes all is good thanks! maybe it the crix, ive only got locusts from them before!

I may give it a try in the future when Leo is back to normal, he starting eating on sunday, he ate 2 boxes of Locusts in one sitting so i bought Crix yesterday and he ate most of the tub so im having to take it day by day at the moment, so glad he has came out lol

shes fine, a bit up and down with the sun/snow! but she happy and eating more and more veg (although im still having to hand feed!) i found she eats more if i feed every three days not two, but she still hates to try new things!

The locust i always get from pets at home are always dead! :O i canrt belive this! :x
we went after they had had a delivery of 12 boxes, there were 6 alive in total.
they take crumy care of there reptiles, and i often try to avoid it
you must live in a good area!

Buggsy, glad to hear Gizmo is doing well, my cousins Beardie is doing fine also thanks she has also came out of brumation i think over a week ago and has started eating well.

Livey, im not sure how the staff will cope with the reptiles, they are not yet set up but im sure i will set them straight, they get deliveries every Tuesday and Friday and from what ive seen they seem to be coping well, i have had several conversations with the staff and im sure i can give them my thoughts on where they are going wrong with the Beardies, i will need to do my homework on the Gecko's :study: when they have had the crix/locusts for more than 3-4 days they sell them off as cheap as £70 per tub and most of them are still alive.

The only problem these pet shops have with the reptiles is noone takes the time out to tell them exactly what is required for the husbandry, i will try my best to help them.

im astonished to hear that! i really am,
i have tried sevrel times to talk to them, i hate my pets at home, i applied for ajob to try change it and they hired some *****s!
They said to me they get livefood not on a set date but whenver they want?
when they have reptiles them selfs they should have set dates,
you must have some good pets at home

You can place an order on Mondays im sure it is for instance 3 tubs of locust and 2 tubs of crix which will be delivered every friday, they will phone you on the friday to let you know it has arrived then phone on the monday to see if you still require them, there is no obligation to buy

Where do you live, the owner should have a work with the staff if they are that bad or have a word with the supplier

i just dont feel exactly intised by the offer of the dead locust, on the website it shows a lovely reptile section and ours just is 4 stupid cages and you can never see the leos and the beardie arnt best kept for
Im going to ask to seee the manger next time.

Lol always good to have a good pet shop round the corner, just in case!

I have had many a run in with pet shops, esp in Essex. I have had rows and seen some really disturbing stuff, i thinks thats why i avoid them now!

From experience the idea of pets at home branching into reptiles is very worrying Ive had lots of small furries from there in the past rabbits guinea pigs etc and fish and the staff are niether that knowledgable even about them or have they ever been that healthy. Reptiles are so specialist alarm bells are ringing very loudly. ill be sure to keep an eye on mine too. God i hope they train people properly.

As for food ive always bought live food mainly crix though ive had locusts and morios from livefood.co.uk and never had a problem in almost 2 years of supply. They always arrive the next working day even by standard post and the guys even emailed me to say he wouldnt send the bugs out unless id def be in cos it was so cold they would die if left at the sorting office over the weekend. My own experince of them is good though clearly can not speak for others. Ive also bought replacment bulbs from them they are very reasonable
