Petco's 1$ per Gallon sale question

People say that Petco has a 1$ per gallon sale sometimes.
Now I'm new to owning a bearded dragon so I have never heard of this before but I would really like to get a 40 breeder or maybe even a 55.
So if this sale is true, then I want to wait for it.

But.. how often do these sales happen?
Will they give information when the sale is on its way?
Does it depend on the store or do Petcos all across the US have the sale at the same time?

From what I heard, the sale only applies to fish aquariums, not the reptile tanks

It does apply to the "aquariums," but you can house a beardie in an aquarium. The Petco near me just had a $1 per gallon sale in January, and last year they had one in early January, mid-June, and early September. So there might be one around June this year? You can ask the manager, but the manager at the Petco near me told me that they don't find out about the sales until a week or so before the sale starts. It might depend on region, but I think most stores seem to run them at about the same time.

On another note, a 55 gallon (48"x13"x21") is really narrow for a beardie. The 40 gallon breeder (36"x18"x16") actually has more floor space (624 square inches for the 55 gallon vs. 648 square inches for the 40 gallon breeder).

Ah okay, thanks I'll for the 40 gallon then. Unless there is a bigger one that has floor space too.

They seem to do the sale twice every year. I think i got mine in June last year. The aquarium you will get will be aqueon brand, they sell them in the fish section. They sell them without a lid but they sell a folding lid for the 40 breeder which is actually really nice... put your lights on the back side of the lid and you won't have to move anything to get your beardie out. A 40 breeder is perfect for a baby but should be upgraded after about a year. The minimum size for an adult dragon should be 4x2 feet of floorspace.

Alright nice, I guess I'll wait for the sale then.

How will I find out if they are having the sale? How will I be notified? Because the nearest Petco is like 30 minutes away from me, so it's not like I could drive by every day to see.

You can either call the store or check online. To check online, you just go to Petco's website, and on the top of the homepage is a link that says "Local Ad." You'll have to put in your zip code. I think they have a new ad every few weeks.
