Petco Tank Sale

Stopped by Petco after reading the $1 per gallon sale is going on in another thread. Wound up getting a 40g breeder for $80 off. It would be a pretty decent size for a young dragon. $40 instead of $120 makes a big difference budget wise. That pretty much covers the cost of good lighting. Keeping mine on hand as an emergency second tank or travel tank. Wanted to post another FYI that the sale is going on for another week or two so anyone who needs a cheap enclosure may want to stop by.

Was very hard not to take home one of the little guys who was following me back and forth across the tank and giving me the sideways look. After working with adults for a while it's hard to think about how small and cute they are when they start off.

I feel bad for the dragons in the pet stores, I got my kaisei from a pet store. He was a rescue. It takes all my willpower to not buy one.

I know I took advantage of the sale however I ended up spending 119 bucks for my tank. The say 1 buck per gallon however I really doubt that I bought 119 gallon tank. Either way it's huge and I save about 80 bucks on that tank so I guess I cant really complain. My biggest problems were trying to leave the store without getting the last beardie in the tank he was just so little and cute. The other problem I have is I need a screen lid for my tank and could not find one at the store.

I think the sale ended on Saturday. The sale price was definitely $40. I think they carry lids for the 40g but I'm not sure. I didn't get a lid for the one I picked up.

I was in there before sale ended. I thought it was a little in the high side but it's probably to late by now.

If you have your receipt I'd bring it back to the store and request the discounted price. If it was purchased during the sale period the 40g breeder should have been included and they should refund the difference.

I wish I caught this thread earlier or can find out when they're having a sale...I'd rather not lug around a 40 gallon tank every time I go home

I picked up the 40g breeder as a backup tank in case I need extra space for a rescue but also had it in mind as a travel tank. Since it's an aquarium tank rather than a terrarium tank it's incredibly heavy so it's not the best for travel. Something came up over the weekend and we need to bring Darwin with us to Minneapolis later this week and needed something large and lightweight for him to stay in so I picked this up: http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Play-Portable-Playard/dp/B00KBGTRAC

The size is great and I can hang a basking light over the side on an adjustable stand. Easy to clean floor. Plenty of room for logs and hides. It's lightweight and folds into a carrying bag. He may be able to easily climb the mesh on the side if he wants to but they all seem to have that problem (aside from going to one of the metal dog crate style deals). Will test it out and hopefully it will work well.
