petco sucks

So i hed to petco with my kids and wife to get some supplies for the fish, the dog and wubzy, when my kids run to the reptile section and look at the bd's they have 4 which looked in pretty bad shape so since they luv animals so much they turn to me and give me the puppy dog eyes and the hugs kisses and i luv yous and since i luv them sooo much i was a goner from the puppy dog eyes so now i have 2 more dragons which i got in a 30 gallon tank until wubzy goes into his 155 tank and then they can go into his 40 gall bredder tank...... (pics of the new kids to come) i just wish those stores would take better care of the animals and i hope sum1 grabbed the other 2 already. welll the are both 6.5 in long and now they are very energetic compared to when they was at the store, not really sure if they are boys or girls. how long do i have to wait to determin that?

aww good for you. i was just at petco and they had 2 dragons. one looked ok but the other one was is bad shape. dark in color, didnt move and shallow breathing. i felt so bad for the little guy

yea wish i could have got all four but money isnt that great, so i did wut i could, i just hope sum1 like me goes there and gets the other 2.. funny thing is i put the 2 tanks right next to eachother and they all go to the end and go face to face and the lil ones waves there hands at the big 1 to let him know he runs things, i just wish i could put them all in the 155 gall i mean theres moreeeee then enough space for everyone.

i try to avoid the reptile section as much as i can when i go there. it breaks my heart to see the baby dragons. a few weeks ago, they had 10(!) babies in one small tank and they were all clamoring over each other and none of them looked in that great of shape. i wish i could have take them all home... :-(

Congrats on your new additions. I hate their reptile sections at pet stores. The only store I really don't have a big problem with is petsmart, and the one near me takes pretty good care of their herps.

I would be careful as to putting them all together. I have heard of bigger beardies chasing and even getting confused enough to try and eat the smaller ones thinking they were food. This may or may not be a problem for you but I would take some extreme caution.

Congrats on the new lil ones Big Heart bro. I buy my crickets from petsmart and petco just so I can look at the BD's to keep an eye on them. Make sure there doing ok. My pets away from home. And yes I pester the manager to if there not quit right.

have you thought about making dividers for the 155 gallon tank and splitting it into 3 evenly sized tanks...then they could all 3 be in one area and you would save some space on cages

Was in one the other week getting some calcium and checked out their beardies.

There were about 10 and all probably 3-4" long.

Unfortunately buying from pet stores that neglect their animals doesn't actually help the problem at all, it worsens it. I would definitely separate all the beardies as the older ones can eat the younger ones and the younger ones are liable to nip eachother's toes and tails.

Part of the problem is the corporations, not their employees. The corporations need to start setting a good standard to teach by for their specialists. Our store has two people that could be considered herp experts, one being myself, and most of what I have learned was learned through my own research. And believe me, I've seen where stores don't take care of their reptiles, and it makes me as sick as everyone who isn't a pet store employee. It's getting to the point that there should be an actual school that people who want to retail animals should have to go to. It would solve a lot of problems, and there is enough knowledge out there that I still have to go home and constantly research different things about animals.
