Petco dial thermometer

Hi all my son and I are new owners of a beardie. I wanted to bring my findings to share. We bought Thugs viv and everything that we needed. We also bought 2 thermostats one for the bask and the cool side. We were really having a hard time getting his heat in the proper range. So I bought a accurite digital type and found the dial type gauge was off by 20 deg..that's scary it was that far off.

This is so typical of the gauge style thermometers. Great you caught it before too long. :wink:
BTW the gauge style hygrometers can be just as inaccurate.

Yeah. That's why you should never take any of petco's advice seriously, haha! Definitely go by the digital theremometer for temperature. Those dial ones are crap!

Our breeder friend yelled at us. He's like you spent 300.00 on a viv and went with 2.00 crap gauges. I don't know what I was thinking ha ha

LOL, I had done very similar to this with my first dragon. :wink:

I trashed them and got the acurite one. The issue I had with it was our temp went from 110 to 125 in less than hour. The probe had dust on it wiped it clean read temp correctly again. It must have insulted the heat in the probe.
