Pet Store :/

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not but I just need to rant a little.

I get my crickets at a local Pet Supplies Plus (which is where my little Haku is from) and I went in there last week and saw a Bearded Dragon adult sized in a tiny tank. When I asked if I could hold him (mostly to see if he was sick being in such a small tank with such crappy bulbs) the manager said he's mean and will bite me. I replied "That shouldn't be something you should tell someone, what if I wanted to buy it?" and then I also complained that the tank they had him in was way to small. I went back in a few weeks later and they moved him to one of the lower level tanks that is much bigger. (But still has bad lights). I talked to the guy in charge of all the animals and he said the dragon is moody. He puffs up when he's held, like he's easily agitated. I feel so bad for this guy like no one is ever gonna buy him because he is so big and the pet store keeps telling everyone he is mean when I held for him a good five minutes without him really doing much. I wish I knew someone here who could buy him from the store.

I feel your pain. I don't want to go into the local pet store any more. THANK GOODNESS we have a real reptile shop or I don't know what I would do...

Sounds like where I got my Chaos from back in November. He/She was in a tank by himself, 10 gallon tank with a log taking up most the tank, poor lighting/heat. He had a heat lamp but that was all. next to him was a larger tank with a few tiny dragons. Sure the little ones were cute lil babies but Chaos looked so sad and helpless. He was $10 cheaper then the little ones since he was bigger and most people would pick a little baby over him. He was missing a few toe nails, found out he was shipped as a baby with a larger one the pet store bought for breeding, and was beaten up by the bigger one . He has been wonderful since the day we brought him home. At this point I have no plan on getting a 2nd dragon, as I prefer to put the money in to upgrading Chaos's enclosure but I would pick a bigger guy over a baby again if I ever decided on another one. Gotta give the bigger guys a chance at a happy home!

That was one of the places i went by when I was looking for my beardie.. They had awful customer service.. I stood there for 5 to 10 min trying to look into the cage.. I am short so i could barely see the little guy in the cage.
I finally got to see him and he was on the smaller side.. and have a very large belly.. swollen. I said thank you for your time and left. The guy stood there with the beardie in his hand looking him over as I walked out.
